“DEJA VU”

Earlier this year, I sat down with my D Kurd and started tracing out these melodies, and this strange feeling hit me, like I’d played these exact notes before. The rhythm felt so natural in my hands, almost as if the piece was already sitting inside the metal, just waiting for me to catch up and let it out. It’s that weird, beautiful spark of recognition and nostalgia, pure Deja Vu.
I’m thrilled to finally share this moment from my performance at @pantasiahandpangathering in March with all of you. It was such a special experience! by @phoenixtj

The stumble ➡️ the retry ➡️ the click. 🎶

Keeping the missed timing in this clip because practice isn’t a straight line. The real joy of writing music isn’t just getting it right. It’s that instant rush of satisfaction when the groove finally lands where it’s supposed to..

Embrace the awkward beats!🛸🤸🏻‍♂️ .

“Mirror”

On the final day of the @heartlandhangout, I sat down with @mar.loi with a simple seed of an idea and a desire to make music together. We were working with completely different scales my Eb La sirena and her F# la sirena and F2 that on paper shouldn’t easily mesh. What came out of it felt so simple, natural, and grounded.

Endless gratitude to @mar.loi for creating this space with me and making music feel so effortless. ✨

Thank you so much, my dear friend @mr.bigelow for capturing this moment. 🤗 taken in Stronghold Camp & Retreat Center by @phoenixtj

Still buzzing from @heartlandhangout ! Had the absolute best time jamming with the incredible @amy_naylor_smiles Playing music with Amy is pure joy, inspiring, and so much fun. Grateful for this moment and for the amazing connections this community brings.

Fun fact: We were actually perched right over a groundhog hole. High-key hoping our underground friend enjoyed the private handpan concert.

Still buzzing from the 17th! ✨

Looking back at these photos and clips of my first concert, my heart is overflowing. The journey of learning, practicing, and growing through music has been one of the most beautiful paths I’ve ever walked.

A huge thank you to @ravi_venugopalan for accompanying me on the tabla-your rhythm and energy made the music come alive in the most seamless way.

To this incredible community, my friends, and everyone who showed up— you’ve truly become family. Thank you @barzakh.cafe for creating such a warm, encouraging space and for sharing it with us. taken in Brooklyn, New York by @phoenixtj
