Tried something a little dangerous today… curry + pho in the same bowl 👀

Pulled up to Pho Metro at Bur Oak (50 Bur Oak Ave #7, Markham) — one of the busiest neighbourhood Vietnamese spots with a 4.4⭐ rating from 1,200+ reviews and super reasonable pricing (about $10-$20 a bowl).

They’re known locally for big portions, quick service, and comfort-style soups… but I ignored the safe choices and ordered the curry beef brisket pho.

First sip: curry aroma punches you politely.
Second sip: the classic pho broth still shows up like “don’t forget who I am.”
Then the brisket — fall-apart soft. Chopsticks became optional equipment.

If you always order the usual combo… this is your character development arc. by @phometro_markham

We're open today! Please call ahead if you're curious about our operating hours, as they're subject to change with the weather conditions.

MARKHAM PHO SPOT

With multiple locations across the GTA and a loyal neighbourhood following, I finally stopped by to see what the regulars already know. Naturally, I ordered the bowl with all the meats. No regrets.

🍜 what’s on the menu
All the Vietnamese comfort staples you expect are here. Pho, vermicelli, fresh rolls, broken rice, plus a few location specific items that keep each spot feeling a little different. Also grabbed some sugar cane juice.

🏠 local energy
Very neighbourhood spot with lots of regulars and quick service. It gets busy and seating is capped at about an hour.

📝 ordering
You write your order at the table and they bring everything to you. Payment happens at the counter when you’re done, which is confusing since it feels like a sit down restaurant.

Find it at Pho Metro in Markham. Tell them @thismamadontcook sent you.

Bún Đặc Biệt – thịt nướng, bò nướng, tôm xiên, chả giò – House combination w/ grilled lemongrass pork, beef, shrimp and spring roll $18.95

Gỏi Cuốn Gà – Fresh rice paper rolls with lemongrass grilled chicken $8.50
