Years ago I was bored at my retail job when I saw this Icon strolling past my department. She was decked out, looking every bit like a woman I’d hope to grow into some day. I asked her about her rings and the rest was history. I’d see her regularly all over town, spreading joy and happiness everywhere she went. This is @theladykrishna , my muse. I wish I could tell that shop girl she’d be working in a creative field in no time. It was an honor and a joy to have the opportunity to color her hair. Today I turn 38. This is my favorite photo of myself from my recent trip. Not because I look glamorous but because I’m with someone I love, my dearest niece. She’s 14 years old. Whilst I would love to share the entire picture, the image of my niece and I is not safe on the internet. It’s not safe because we live in a rape culture- the patriarchy, which places the gross wants of men over EVERYTHING else. IMAGES OF CHILDREN ARE NOT SAFE ON THE INTERNET. And that’s because men think it’s their god given right to exploit innocence.
I will print this photo out, unedited, and put it on my refrigerator. There are scrapbooks, albums, personal hard drives, various ways of keeping your images safe and private. I will never post a photo of my young relatives until they are over 18 and have personally consented. If you are unsure as to why I’ve taken such an extreme stance, feel free to DM ME and I will be happy to fill you in. Please protect your children, because these men will not. Until we live in a society that centers the need of children and the most vulnerable, it’s our job to protect ourselves, and never their job to fucking- Stop. Abusing. Us. by @phosphenedreams
