“Young kids these days”

Young kids these days are paving ways to make the world a better place.. young men like the coaches in programs around the city inspiring youth to thrive. The cheer-coach whose girls were cheering before she even got there.. just like she taught them. The Saturday clinic for kids who don’t have access to private camps.. or might never be D1 but wanna try baseball anyways.. the basketball coach whose didn’t get practices all week because of the heat, and delayed buses to the game.. yet still coached a great game with kids walking away proud of themselves. There is so many good things happening out there. Especially in Los Angeles.

Young kids want to learn, want to play, want to be better, want to make the world better. Boards and leaders around the country have to step-up as much as those in this program do.. and do better.. they have to show up and reach out to our schools and educators. Don’t forget the school board on the voting ballot.

The Pasadena school system is going through a lot the last few years.. currently at a crossroads of what’s next.. but something I have been loving to see this year… is the growing and thriving of the LEARNS program. Thanks to the young adults who are making this program thrive. WE SEE YOU. I’ve photographed many beautiful moments of Lily’s best friends milestones over the last decade. At each one she’s told me.. “Nicolette I can’t wait to get married so you can photograph it.” Sometimes we think people say those things just to be lovely, but one day this summer .. I got a call. “Nicolette, we have a few wedding date options and I want to make sure you’re available first.” - We met up tonight to celebrate their engagement. Such a special life poem in my career. I love a Zoe and Lily, and now I am in love a Michael and Lily. @lilywhauser here we are. A few tiny peeks of tonight. If you think our school systems in the entirety of the United States don’t neeeeed MAJOR attention, you’re wrong. We have some big votes coming up in midterms and LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD CHOICES. there are some great forums today and Monday that help you hear from members and navigate all the choices. IF YOU HAVE A STUDENT OR BABY ONE DAY ATTENDING Pasadena school systems. This is yours to learn for the future of our kids. WE HAVE TO STAY INVOLVED. Today at 2, and Monday 6:30. - no matter what city you live in America. Our schools, students, and educators need P R E S E N C E. For them, for the values of your home, for humanity.
