That’s a wrap on Elk Camp 24. I debated on whether or not I would even post this. I sent the photo out to a few people that asked how it was going. My reasoning is this hunt was pretty personal for me and felt like I didn’t want to cheapen it with likes and comments. But I know many of you out there may have similar stories or wish you had done one trip or another. All I can say is do it. Take the time, spend the money, get out there. Memories are the only thing we take with us in the end.

Been 10 years since my Grandpa passed away, my Dad’s dad. And even though my Dad and I have hunted plenty together, we have only shared two other hunting camps together. One being the first and last time I got to hunt with my Grandpa Jasper, the other his cow elk tag a few years ago. And although both prior trips we unsuccessful in taking an animal, they were trips both Dad and Grandpa always talked about. I’ll save the whole story for another day, but knowing that my Dad got to watch this bull come in from two miles away, pushing his cows, screaming his head off, and me putting two perfect shots in his boiler room and dying less in than 50 yds is pretty huge for me. Not to mention having two of my best friends and cousin along, I guess just I’m not sure I have fully grasped the full impact of my first bull, but it’s settling in.
