SEPTEMBER 26

I’ve lost weight, and put some back, I’ve weakened, and got some strength. It’s been just over two months, but it feels like so much has happened. I’ve felt endless emotions, cried, been scared, and at some very rare moments- felt sorry for myself. But mostly, I wanted to go through, and live. To have more of these life moments when I appreciate, when I see the beauty of people, of silly details, of places. And to have much more time with the people which I appreciate and love. Just a bit more. Almost half is behind me. And I’m hopeful.

A DAY TO REMEMBER

I’ll always remember when this photo was taken. Mid July day, mid day, wandering around the streets of Hammersmith, trying to pass the time between one morning medical check to a later one, trying to distract my mind. And what’s better from such old Brutalist building for switching my mind on, and having some joy with the camera 🩶. I had no idea what these checks will reveal 10 days later, I didn’t want to think of anything bad. And in a way, I was simply present in that moment.

The beauty of Margate, for me, is the duality it offers when coming from the big smoke. It is a vibrant English coast town, full with art vibe, and tasty spots, but it also offers a proper coastal walk, where you leave the town behind you, and you become a guest of the big outdoors, with all it’s beauty.

The pure beauty of nature. Of the big outdoors, the powerful sea, the delicate marine life. Building up patiently over endless moments, adding layers and details of beauty. It’s not art, not exactly intentional, yet so precise.

CHANGES

My photography is about to change. My life is. Almost every aspect of life, feels different already. Appreciating life, appreciating love, family and friendship more than ever. I’m the weakest that I’ve ever been, physically. I’m scared, and sad. But these emotions, as much as I allow them, doesn’t define me, there’s much more positivity. Half a year is ahead of me, and I’ll come out of this fight stronger, and even more appreciative of life.

If you ever notice this old brutalist landmark of Margate, head underground, to the darkness of the parking lot. This is the local hub for skateboarding, and where they can be, without being seen. Spot the skateboard?!

ANGLEPOISE + THINK TANK

Objects aren’t important. But design is, I think. And I’m loving the timeless details of these two… one of the only times that banksy collaborated officially with other artists, on a commercial project, was actually one of my fav Brit Pop albums. This big print is with me for 20 years now, moved 3 countries with, and even more homes… and I think it’s here to stay. This photo shows more of the other icon- the anglepoise, and doesn’t reveal the beautiful couple of banksy, but I find it a beautiful background.
