History was made at the Port Harcourt Polo Club as we successfully hosted the Nigerian Army Day Celebration Tournament (NADCEL 2026), the first official tournament under the leadership of our newly elected President, Austin Onimisi.

The tournament brought together players from the Port Harcourt Polo Club and the Nigerian Army in a spirited celebration of sport, friendship, and healthy competition, delivering exciting polo action and showcasing the enduring bond between the Club and the Armed Forces.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of Awards of Appreciation to the Honourable Minister of Defence, Gen. CG Musa (Rtd), the Chief Of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Maj. Gen. EE Emekah, and the immediate Past President of the Port Harcourt Polo Club, Mr. Henry Agbodjan, in recognition of their outstanding support, invaluable contributions, and commitment to the growth of polo and the success of the tournament.

More than just a competition, NADCEL 2026 strengthened relationships, promoted unity and sportsmanship, and reaffirmed polo’s role in fostering camaraderie and mutual respect.

Congratulations to President Austin Onimisi, the management team, players, officials, sponsors, and everyone who contributed to making this historic event a resounding success.

Here’s to many more successful tournaments and an even brighter future for polo in Port Harcourt.

PUBLIC INVITATION: INAUGURAL ARMY DAY POLO EVENT,

SATURDAY, 4TH JULY 2026

The Port Harcourt Polo Club is delighted to invite members of the public to witness a historic occasion as we host the Inaugural Army Day Polo Event on Saturday, 4th July 2026, at 3:00 PM.

Polo in Nigeria owes much of its growth, development, and prestige to the invaluable contributions of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

This inaugural event marks the beginning of a new chapter in the relationship between the Military and the sport, while firmly establishing Polo as part of Army Day celebrations.

The event will also provide an opportunity to honour and appreciate the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General E. Emekah, who has been posted to Abuja for higher responsibilities.

Throughout his tenure in Rivers State, Major General Emekah has been a steadfast supporter of the Port Harcourt Polo Club and the sporting community.

Guests can look forward to an exciting afternoon of Polo, camaraderie, and celebration.
