Pia and Dani’s take on this powerful mashup of ‘Ya Talaeen’ and ‘Ay Que Panadera’.

‘Ya Talaeen’ is a Palestinian folk song that was traditionally sung by women to their imprisoned loved ones. The song consisted of messages of hope, and to hide the messages they were singing from the occupational forces, they would add the extra “le le le” syllable.

‘Ay Que Panadera’, is a traditional Spanish song translating to “Oh, what a baker woman!”. Women would sing this song when baking while using the kneading and pounding of the dough to create a rhythm.

The mash up of these two songs, originally done by artists Terez Sliman and Sofia Adriana,
brings together two traditional folklore songs that were sung by women.

See you at the next Sahra on June 26th.

Pia and Loz took to the stage and delivered an original song written by Pia, called ‘Llegaré’, that held the entire room in its grip from the first note.

We are so lucky to witness all the talented artists from our Sahra events.

And speaking of Sahra events... we hear the next Sahra is coming soon! Who are we seeing there?

Llegaré.
