Every artist has a story, every journey has something to teach, and every conversation opens up a new perspective. ✨

At ICMD, our students got to step beyond the studio and into a conversation with Pia Sutaria, Manish Chauhan, Achintya Bose (CalArts dance graduate and performer), Jhansi Rajgarhia (Musical Theatre Writer, performer and composer), and Mihika Miranda (Fundraising for Theatre, Theatre Development and Producing) — five incredible artists, each with their own unique pathway, experiences, and lessons to share. 💫

From curious questions to candid conversations, it was all about gaining new perspectives, finding inspiration, and discovering just how many different ways there are to shape your journey as a dancer. 🩰

Because sometimes, the most valuable lessons happen when you pause, listen, and learn from the journeys of others ❤️ taken in ICMD India - Institute of Classical and Modern Dance by @piasutaria

I’ve been reflecting on the incredible opportunity I was given to do my MA in Musical Theatre Performance at @royalacademyofmusic in 2020! Education is one of the greatest gifts and opportunities I have received, and to have the access and space to be able to expand my knowledge and understand my instrument better brought me joy beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. I worked alongside some of the greatest voices and talent I have seen from all over the world, and was able to develop as a singer, actor and dancer and perform in the country I always dreamed of living in. What a privilege and honour. Thank you for being my knight in shining armour through it all my sweetest @kimchohaz ✨❄️🤍 by @piasutaria

Invited as the first Indian company ever to present work @royalacademyofdance Headquarters in London at their prestigious Aud Jebsen theatre, only to find that my dancing photographs from my time getting my teaching qualification at the RAD is still being used by them in their headquarters and all over the world!

By far one of the most special full circle moments in my career 🤍🥹

I grew up studying @royalacademyofdance curriculum with the wonderful Tushna Dallas before moving on to perform professionally and I am so proud to mention that my relationship with the organisation has only deepened over time!

The organisation represents the highest standard of structured dance curriculum in ballet globally, and they were kind enough to invite us to perform at their headquarters! I was then invited to appear in a global video alongside their leadership talking about mentorship, and was also invited to speak about my career on “Why Dance Matters”, alongside some of the worlds most renowned dance leaders and performers.

I will soon be a tutor to more @royalacademyofdance teachers in 2027 and look forward to supporting the next generation of artistic leadership in India 🤍 by @piasutaria

One of the greatest joys of dance education is watching our students continue to grow and thrive long after they leave our studios.

During her recent visit to London, Pia had the opportunity to reconnect with a few of our alumni and hear about the exciting paths they’ve each gone on to pursue. They continue to keep in touch, some returning to teach and perform with us in India.

Today, they are continuing their professional careers and training at world renowned institutions like:

✨ Dipesh Verma – Rambert Dance Company, UK @rambertdance
✨ Vidushi Dsouza – MA, London Contemporary Dance School @theplacelondon
✨ Angha Mishra – BA, Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance @rambertschool
✨ Ishika Nagi – BA, Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance @rambertschool
✨ Mahika Singh – BA, Urdang, City St George’s, University of London @theurdang

Watching their journeys unfold is a reminder that while our students may go on to train, perform, and study across the world, they will always remain an important part of the ICMD family🤍 by @piasutaria

9 years of @icmdindia!💥

As we close the chapter on our 2025–2026 academic year, we’re filled with nothing but gratitude.

Every performance is built on countless unseen moments—the early mornings, quick costume changes, shared laughter backstage, words of encouragement, teamwork, and an incredible community of people who come together to make something truly special.

Our annual showcase is never the work of one person. It is the result of so many hands, hearts, and minds working together, all united by a shared commitment to our students and to the joy of creating.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible founder and director— @piasutaria, and the core of all we do at ICMD @manishchauhan02, @aliciamisquitta, @riavahi98, @lord_bigglesworth—and our faculty— @tanyachauhan18, @mrigya_tiwari11, @tarinikathak, @itsneerajlohni, @arushinigam12, and @ashifasv, @kunaal.tmh @mukta_nagpal, @shivanimystery — for your unwavering care, dedication, and countless hours of work both on and off stage.

A special thank you to our lighting designer, @yaelcrishna, whose lighting helped bring each performance to life; @rohit_1312 for beautifully capturing the day on film; @the_little_lens for documenting these core memories through his photographs; @navjotkiran for her support with costumes; @anushrirao for her invaluable backstage support; and @tinasutaria, whose hair, makeup, endless support, and legendary sandwiches have become a cherished part of every ICMD showcase❤️

A huge thank you to @g5a.culture and the team for once again providing a wonderful home for our annual showcase!

Lastly, to our students, parents, families, and everyone who continues to believe in what we do—thank you for making this community what it is.

As we settle into Year 9 at ICMD, we do so with immense gratitude for the year that’s been and great excitement for all that lies ahead. We can’t wait to continue training, creating, learning, laughing, and growing alongside this incredible community.

Here’s to another year of meaningful work, unforgettable memories, and many more moments shared together🤍

For @travelandleisureindia 🫶✨

Always such a privilege to share my journey, and get to say I do what I set my heart on at the age of 5! A life in ballet and dance in India has not been a straightforward path, but the fact that we are now paving that path with @icmdindia is immensely exciting- and I know firsthand how much the opportunity to learn and grow through travel has shaped this part of my career.

@manfrombhutan @rewa.dorji I couldn’t help but speak about my love for Bhutan of course and how much it has shaped me!

@kitchengardenbysuzette got a front page mention too obviously 😌 iykyk by @piasutaria

College Acceptances 2025

A look at where our students’ training has taken them—offers from international colleges and universities across the world.

At ICMD, we are committed to nurturing young dancers with clarity, discipline, and individual attention. Through consistent technical training, performance opportunities, and structured examination pathways, students are supported in building both artistic and academic direction.

These acceptances reflect not just outcomes, but years of focused work, guidance, and growth within the studio. And we’re really proud of each and every one of our students!

Thank you @piasutaria and the entire ICMD faculty for making dreams come true! by @piasutaria
