Having recently completed her residency at Khoj in New Delhi, Luisa Hansal reflects on a transformative month of research and making.

Working intuitively across painting, sculpture and sewing, Luisa explored themes of pain, grief and renewal. In this conversation, Hansal discusses the shifts in her practice, the value of uncertainty and her desire to create space for forms of knowledge that exist beyond language.

⋆˚࿔ Circular Economies Exhibition: Linda Tegg
We’re preparing for the Circular Economies exhibition at PICA. 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟲. Here’s a little peek at Linda Teggs’s work; Situational Awareness.

Bringing awareness to intangible cultural resources, and challenging dominant narratives in space exploration, the project considers how this satellite system can connect communities to the world, yet also threaten vital Yingarrda cultural stories of astronomy with light pollution. With the support of Shire of Carnarvon and Yingarrda cultural leader Rennee Turner, Situational Awareness proposes a grounded alternative, imagining new narratives rooted in place, culture and interconnection.

Witness the artwork at PICA.

➜ Opening: Friday Oct 16 6:00–9:00pm.
➜ Exhibition runs Saturday Oct 17 – Sunday Dec 20.
➜ Artist Talks: Saturday Oct 17 3:00–4:30pm.

Curated by Miranda Johnson and presented in partnership with PICA, ‘Circular Economies’ delivers new commissions from five artist–community partnerships developed through residencies across regional Western Australia.

PICA is pleased to announce that the 2026 Hatched People's Choice Award recipient is Alanna Askew from the University of Wollongong! Congratulations, Alanna!

Alanna’s work 'Permanent Transience' uses foraged materials from coastal landscapes to form a series of 52 hand-build ceramic pieces, shaped by the distinct mineral compositions of unprocessed wild clay. Combined with natural pigments and driftwood ash glaze, Alanna's organic forms reveal the diversity of coastal terrain, with and earthy palette that directly embodies the landscape.

There is just over a week left to experience 'Hatched 2026'. Open until Sunday 4 October, Tuesday – Sunday, 12–5pm. Our exhibitions are always free.
