🦒 THE MAKING OF THE @toysrus COSTUME PT. 1 🎠

I'm not sure where to start or what to even say besides I would 10/10 stay up for 48 hours straight to make this for @rachelhalldoeshair again.

We began with a blank and pre-made canvas. It ended up being almost totally gutted, but it was a good jumping off point that we thought would save us some time (🤣). Since all bodies are different, and Rachel moves around a lot while working, I wanted this to be the most comfortable version of a shelf corset that I could possibly make. That meant making individual shelves and installing them as such.

I was absolutely giddy over the fact that my first engineering idea ended up working perfectly: shoving some craft wire into our "shelves", And using the tension from the body inside to hold the shelves in place. We really wanted the shelves to be able to move so that it could be level on any person once the corset goes on.

A corset with shelves was simply not enough, though. I did some googling and found a photo of the old Toys R Us local to us and made a replica to go on top. 😭 I can't.

The pants? Perfection. We went with the Bee Pants (EXTRA barrelled) and included a big patch that was made from Rachel's vintage tee. I hand stitched every letter because it's always the little details that we live for.

The finest details are in the toy collection — minis were sent to me by @sayyestothemess.art , and the 3D printed fan-favorites were made by Bestie @lmdcindy and I will think about those furbies and cozy coupe every day until I die.

It was a blast to be able to deliver this pride and joy in person and feel the magic of Jovi Spirit Week begin. 🥹

It's really not that hard, especially when you're white and rich.

When you speak your mind the right people will come, and you're less likely to have to go on an apology tour.

I promise my family, friends, and customers will always know where I stand and where your money is going. We should all know where ouR money is going because it's the only thing they care about. #handmade #sewin #quilted #polymerclay #757artist by @pickledpleats

Millennial Nostalgia 🤝 NYFW

I had the absolute honor of creating some looks for Rachel's trip to New York Fashion Week. These trolls outfits are now some of my biggest prides and joys. Being matched up with @selkie for their show is one of the craziest dreams come true.

Thank you again, so much, @rachelhalldoeshair . 🥹🩷🫶🏼

Please let it be soon and painful.

ETA: This was all @rachelhalldoeshair idea, and when she said she needed it, I was immediately on it. Genius.

Typically with applique letters, you'd finish the edges with a zigzag stitch. I intentionally used a straight stitch to let the edges fray over time. Personally I think we've already waited long enough to get mad enough to do something. I felt like it was a great visual representation of how long we have sat in this, how long people have been screaming it, how many people have died for it, and hopefully how much perseverance we have. 🫶🏼

Also nothin' else on this outfit better be frayed by the time I'm watching their trials. 👀
