Tongue piercings are making a FULL comeback and honestly… I’m here for it 👅✨

Who else got theirs pierced in the late 2000s/early 2010s when everybody was clicking acrylic balls on their teeth in class? 😂

I got mine pierced for my 16th birthday in 2009 and I swore I was the coolest person alive. Tongue out in every picture lol

It’s wild watching piercings cycle back around the same way fashion does. One minute everyone’s taking them out… the next minute the younger generation is bringing them right back.

The REAL question is… who still has theirs? 👀

Piercing is something I’ve been doing since I was 11 years old. It kept me from turning to the “typical” forms of self-harm. It helped me make friends. It helped me move out of my house at 16 years old. It kept me and my son from being homeless when he was a baby.

What started as something personal became my career. It gave me a business. It gave me the opportunity to create space for my friends to build financial freedom too. It gave me a skill I’ll one day be able to pass down to my kids. It’s allowed me to live in one of the most expensive areas in America while still having the flexibility to be present for my son and my family whenever I choose.

I am beyond blessed and beyond grateful for what piercing has done for my life.

The craziest part is that even now, when I’m out in public, I still get the stares. I still get judged. People shy away from me. People assume I can’t afford things. People assume I’m a lowlife. Even my son’s school has made assumptions about the kind of mother I am.

There is still such a heavy stigma around heavily modified people.

What a lot of people don’t understand is that tattoos, piercings, and quality body modifications are expensive — especially good work. This industry takes skill, discipline, professionalism, trust, and years of dedication.

Hopefully, in some small way, I can help break that stigma.

I couldn’t be more grateful for this life I live.
