Hi all, this is Pierce’s brother Griff. It's hard to find words to describe how today feels. The last 3 or so months have been such a rollercoaster. @belle_envie_, Pierce & I in collaboration with our lovely friends at @anjunadeep have been working on presenting the first chapter of @leavinglaurel as an album for a really long time. I don't remember when the first inklings of the idea started being discussed amongst the three of us but it was at least 2 years ago. It's crazy to think how much has happened since those ideas started getting thrown around. Fast forward & here we are today with this beautiful album serving as a time capsule bringing us back to some of the most special times. Every time I hear the songs, my mind is completely transformed in the most powerful of ways. Pierce is right there next to me & it feels as if nothing has changed.

It wasn't originally intended to be as such but this album has become a memorial to our pal Pierce & all of our times together. It's a tribute, representing years of memories - friendship, a shared love of all different kinds of music, late nights in warehouses in LA & Amsterdam, throwing our own parties at home, tough times, heartbreak, big life changes, watching Harry Potter all weekend by the fire, hiking in the woods of Vermont, drinking beer on a Tuesday afternoon, all of the little things & all of the big things, distilled into a single body of work. Pierce was so incredibly passionate about presenting all of the Leaving Laurel music in this way. He was so proud & just wanted people to be able to have one thing to share with the world, as a way to cherish a spark that created this project in that magical house on top of the hill. We're so proud of you P. Thank you for pushing us to put together this album. You'll forever push us to be better people, push us to take our creativity further than we thought we could & push us to look back on what we've done & where we come from. by @piercefulton

Hi everyone - this is Pierce’s older brother Griff. It breaks my heart to share with you that Pierce passed away on Thursday evening following a tragic struggle with his mental health.

Pierce was so incredibly full of life, love & unimaginable creativity. He was kind, caring, thoughtful, silly & sweet. The most magical person that we were all so blessed to know, hear & see. He was an expert at absolutely anything he set his mind to & had this incredible ability to retain knowledge unlike anyone I’ve ever known. The only word that truly can describe his abilities is genius. He could captivate a room of strangers in the blink of an eye with only one hope - to make everyone feel loved, comfortable & welcomed. He traveled the globe for the better part of a decade doing what he loved & cemented powerful friendships with so many wonderful people along the way, accomplishing more in his career in music than most could dream to accomplish in a lifetime. He loved you all so much & wanted to give you everything he had; and he had so much to give.

This past year has been an incredibly difficult time for everyone. If you or anyone you know has been struggling, please take your intuition seriously, speak up about your feelings, and reach out for help. Each and every one of you matters and are loved more than you can ever know.

I ask that all of you focus your energy towards the future, towards making a difference through love & compassion, towards staying in touch with the people close to you, towards learning & understanding more about what so many of us might be going through, often hidden deep beneath so many layers. Be kind to yourself, so that you may also be kind to others. Pause & listen. Observe your surroundings with open eyes and an open heart. Life is full of endless beauty, no matter how difficult things may feel – a brighter day is right around the corner.

To everyone out there who listened to his songs, thank you. To everyone out there who bought tickets to his shows & danced with him, thank you. To everyone out there who was lucky enough to cross paths with him at any point in life & made him feel loved, thank you. by @piercefulton

New remix and cool story time! -> At the beginning of the pandemic, I reached out to producers about doing some music classes on Zoom. Over the past year, a group of producers and I would meet up on certain Saturday mornings and chat about music making. Over time it became so fun to get to know and learn from this group, especially during quarantine. Eventually we had the idea for a remix contest with my song Priviet, a contest that ended with two choices for release…and one of those out is today. I’m super happy to present the @easytygermusic remix of Priviet! by @piercefulton

Last year, we made the move from the hut to the living room for our 3rd @leavinglaurel live stream. This one was particularly fun since it was our first longer set and we had to fill time pretty creatively. by @piercefulton

For our second improvised @leavinglaurel live show, Gordon and I added some new pieces of equipment and shuffled around what we were each playing. Back in April of last year, Gordon and I were asked to do our very first @leavinglaurel live stream.

We wanted to develop a live show for the project when we started it, but assumed the opportunity would come years later. With the unknown amount of free time just weeks after the initial lockdown, we decided to jump right in and try out a mostly-improvised live electronic set. We choose which songs of ours we’d like to play in the set and how we got from one to the next was up to us in the moment. This stream was literally our first attempt at trying a full live show, having committed to the stream date just a couple weeks prior. Half of the gear we used was completely new to us so we were relieved that it didn’t blow up in our faces live on @anjunadeep ‘s twitch.

It’s pretty cool that we, by chance, captured the process of developing our live show from our very first try. If you’d like to see it, you can find the full stream with the link in my bio. I started a project called @remember.baker for the more experimental stuff I do. I’ll release mellow stuff under that alias while I develop my next music as Pierce Fulton. It’s fun to have different outlets. p.s. check out my other project @leavinglaurel if you haven’t already! by @piercefulton

I’m going to be streaming my next zoom music making class to Twitch tomorrow at 10 AM EST.
