A memorable lunch, that I still consider to be my best meal to date. In 2020, we had the chance to experience @alainpassard Alain Passard’s cooking during a private event at Bois Giroult (outside of Paris). There, he served us his classics while beef was slowly roasting in the fireplace. As of 2025, Passard has switched to only cook vegan produces (except honey from his own farm).

Probably the best hotel breakfast and hot chocolate.
If you want to indulge in a decadent yet refined palace breakfast, run to the Four Seasons George V hotel @fsgeorgevparis in Paris (tip: you actually don’t need to stay at the hotel to try their breakfast 😉).

The msabbaha at Al-Soussi, Beirut (since 1890).
Basically hummus before blenders existed: whole cooked chickpeas, tahini, lemon, olive oil, and olive oil - all mashed by hand in the serving plate by the same man doing it for decades.
In 2013, CNN named this place the world’s best breakfast. Would you agree?

Authentic bistrot and flavors, modern approach to cooking, and exceptionally welcoming staff - L’Ami Jean in Paris

They’re famous for their riz au lait (which I 100% recommend) but all the other dishes are also worth the visit.

For a long time, I wasn’t been able to answer the question: “what is the best ice cream you’ve ever had?”, probably because none really stood out.

And then i tried LaCrèma @lacremaparis in Paris. A bit skeptikal at first, as I am with everything that is trendy and hyped - but I can say without a doubt that this was indeed the best ice cream I’ve had in my life. Plus, it’s made with natural products and no artificial ingredients.

I tried the vanilla, hazelnut and fig flavors, topped with their whipped cream. The hazelnut tastes like actual roasted hazelnuts (almost like nutella but natural and without the extra sweetness). The vanilla is deep and strong, without the heaviness or the excess sugar you get elsewhere. The fig tastes like eating an actual fig at peak ripeness.

It’s also 100% plant-based (no eggs, milk, or cream). In my opinion, that’s what makes each ingredient pop this much. Very impressive how they pull it off.

Everything is made on site, every day and there’s usually a long queue.

Take me back to this end-of-spring salad in Lebanon: mountain tomatoes, fresh peas, green almonds and wild zaatar, tossed with sea salt and olive oil. Simple but when each of these ingredients is exceptional, no need to ovecomplicate things…

Hummus Madqouq (Hand-Pounded Hummus)
📍 Jounieh, Lebanon 🇱🇧

Video by: @pierrefarah

There’s a wooden pestle behind this bowl of hummus. At his family’s shop in Jounieh, Elie Ghosn pounds the chickpeas while they’re still hot, working in tahini, lemon juice and garlic. Madqouq means pounded, and the method leaves its mark: the hummus is warm, rich and just coarse enough to remind you it began as chickpeas. You’d want bread within reach when Elie sets that bowl down. by @pierrefarah

Foul at Abou Shady in Jal el Dib. Fava beans cooked slowly until soft, then dressed with garlic, lemon and a lot of olive oil - disclaimer: I aksed for mine without garlic this time.

Tony Haddad has been making it behind the same counter for over 30 years.

Making of su böreg at Ichkhanian, Lebanon.

Su böreg is an Armenian layered pastry. The name means “water pastry”: the sheets of dough are boiled in water first, then layered with cheese and parsley, generously brushed with butter, and baked until the top turns golden. It comes out soft and rich, closer to a lasagna than to a flaky börek. Every sheet is handled one at a time, which is why almost nobody makes it at home anymore.

The bakery has been run by the same Armenian family since 1946.
