Last night was one of the best nights of my entire life. Celebrated with family and friends, and got to rock out to a killer PPPP show (my 7th so far). Even cooler to find out that they’re all just amazing guys (that extends to all management, and of course @manny_newman who murrrrrrrdered it on the lights all night). Could not have possibly celebrated my 30th in a better way. Thanks so much to @pigeongreg , @pigeonfunk , @mr._bean_curry , and @gatorbeats for coming out and doing this and to everyone else who helped make this night what it was. Entire show was 🔥but the 2nd set was just otherworldly, and the Cliffs/Cheese encore (my 2 favorite songs) was a perfect cap to the evening. This band just never ceases to amaze. Can’t wait to see them in Asbury Park next month!

Let me start by saying I almost never repeat restaurants. There are more great restaurants in NYC alone than I’ll likely ever try, so I rarely want to go back to a place even if it’s amazing. That all went out the window with @estelanyc recently. A few weeks ago I grabbed lunch there while running errands in the neighborhood. I was absolutely floored by what I ate; right off the bat the olive plate was the best olives I’d ever eaten (how do you even make olives better?), and then came the ricotta dumplings. Nothing I write here is going to accurately capture how I felt about that dish. To say it’s one of the best things I’ve ever eaten doesn’t even begin to say it. That dish blew me away so entirely, it immediately landed that on my Mt. Rushmore of bites of food I’ve EVER had, and catapulted Estela to my #2 spot, behind only @elevenmadisonpark in my rankings. The food didn’t miss a beat from there, with the wagyu steak that followed being a top 5 steak of my life, and the cherry sorbet for dessert (that I wasn’t even going to order but the bartender sold me on) was absolutely incredible too. I was so completely floored by the meal that in the Uber home, I was already figuring out when I could go back (which ended up being 10 days later 😂). I already knew i was getting the dumplings again, but this time I was able to try to jamon iberico, which was delicious (and portioned HUGE which I appreciate), and two new desserts, including their chocolate cake, which I honestly believe is the best dessert I’ve ever eaten. This place is special, make it a point to come here if you can, you will not be disappointed. Food, service, and ambiance all top notch.
Food: A+, Service: A, Ambiance: A, Value: A, currently in my #2 spot (of 35)

@donangienyc in the village is a nearly impossible table to get. Their reservations go one week out, release at 9am for the following day, and are gone in 15 seconds—literally. After trying for quite some time, I was able to get a 5:15 table on a Monday. Not ideal but I’d been waiting so long to eat there, I’d take anything. Discussed the menu with the friend I was going with and we both agreed that since we had no idea when we’d get to eat here again, we’d order like 3/4 of the menu and just stuff our faces. The issues with service started when we placed our order—“do you guys have a, uh, timeframe?…that’s food for 6 people.” Swipe to the end to see the complete order. Waiter gave off a stressed, unwelcoming vibe from the get go. Wasn’t outright rude or anything but like bruh, just let me order, I know what I want. Anyway, the night did get better once the food started to come out. The stuffed garlic flatbread was simple and straightforward but delicious. The house salami and cheese was…alright. One of the highlights of the meal was the chrysanthemum salad, which was their play on a Caesar salad, and was probably the best salad I’ve ever eaten. Oddly, given that it is a Michelin-starred Italian place, none of the pasta courses were exceptional, all just decent. The lasagna however (a separate part of the menu from the pastas) was incredible, and the chicken scarapiello stood out as one of the best chicken dishes I’ve had in recent memory. The meal wrapped up with some pretty fantastic desserts (the Tiramisu in particular was heavenly, as corny as that sounds). All in all, the food was pretty hit or miss, some of it was fantastic, some missed the mark. Ultimately that, combined with the service (which granted that could just be that one guy) left me puzzled why it’s so hard to get a table there.
Food: B+/A-, Service: B, Ambiance: B+/A-, Value: A-, currently coming in at my #25 spot among Michelin restaurants (of the 35 I’ve done).

An absolutely life-changing meal at @perseny this week. Starting before the food even came out, I was blown away by the fact that our waiter let me basically build my own menu despite it being a tasting menu (I don’t eat seafood but I do eat meat, so he brought me vegetarian subs for the fish dishes while still getting to eat the meat). From there the night kept getting better and better. Every single thing I tasted that night was among the best versions of that particular thing I’d ever eaten. The texture of the wagyu straight up didn’t make sense (even bordered on @elevenmadisonpark level magic tricks), the tagliatelle was delicious (and topped with an absolutely comical amount of truffles—swipe to see that), and the dessert, described on the menu only as “various desserts” was a plethora of items ranging from cakes to mousses to donuts to tarts. This place was absolutely off the charts amazing in every possible aspect.
Food: A+, Service: A+, Ambiance: A, Value: A-, currently coming in at my #3 spot (behind only @elevenmadisonpark and @estelanyc).

Dinner at @franciebrooklyn last night, some of the best food I’ve had in quite a while. The sweet corn bomboloni and the pappardelle with duck ragu were particularly amazing. I don’t repeat restaurants often but I will 100% be back. If I had one downside to this place I thought the service left something to be desired, but for this level of food, I’ll deal with it.

Had a blast at the Knicks game tonight. Got to meet two of my favorite actors ever, @bkbmg and @jerryferrara (Omar from the Wire and Turtle from Entourage). Lots of orange suit nonsense occurred.
