Full body flow *no equipment* No mat? No worries. You don't need a ball, bands or weights for this one, but I PROMISE you will feel it. Watch points: Breathe. I don’t care when as long as you do it. With every exhale, wrap your core around you, like someone just bandaged up the trunk of your body. You should still be able to breathe, we want to protect that spine. Draw the pelvic floor up towards the ribcage, and the belly button towards the spine, like there's a string connecting them. Tuck your chin as you crunch, like there's a tennis ball between chin & chest. We don't want to strain that neck!! Lift from the core. Try to maintain stability through the hips, if you feel yourself dipping to one side as you lift a leg, remember that core engagement. If you feel your spine buckling or ribs flaring, reduce the lever length/don't lift or lower your leg as far or extend it as long. It is not about how high, low or far your limbs go, it's about control. As always, take the layers that feel right for you 💕 Any questions? Hit me up. #matpilates #fullbodyflow #matpilatesflow #sculptpilates #athomepilates by @pilateswsofia

A reminder that this is a judgment free zone, Pilates is for everyone 🖤 Come as you are, work at your level, take the layers that feel good and leave the ones that don't. Show up for yourself. That's all that matters. Join my mat classes, all abilities welcome: Mondays in Bewdley, Wednesdays in Stourbridge. 🔗 in bio to book, FIRST50 to try your first class for £6. #pilates #powerpilates #pilatesforeveryone #stourbridge #bewdley by @pilateswsofia
DEADBUG 🪲 The Deadbug targets the tranverse abdominus, the corset-like muscles that wrap around the spine. It also hits the obliques & pelvic floor. This movement really helps to build stability, working the muscles that support us through everyday movement. We start with toe taps to establish that deep core connection, progressing to leg extentions to further challenge the core stability, and finally, the full deadbug. Introducing further challenge to the core by increasing lever length and adding in some coordination. What to watch for: rib flare and lower back arching are the two most common compensations. If either happens, reduce the lever length! Don't lower the limbs as far, or stay with the toe taps or leg extensions. Also don't forget to breathe! The key to this movement is keeping stability through the core and spine. No matter which layer you take, you are working hard and building strength through the centre of the body. Trust me when I say you will feel the benefits (and the doms). Less lower back pain, more ease of movement through every day.
