Through art, food, and conversation, we’ll explore charcoal not only as a tool for artistic expression, but also as something deeply woven into Haitian daily life, memory, and culture.

CHABON × PILON was more than I could have ever imagined.

You all matched the energy from the moment you walked in. We shared stories, created together, learned from one another, enjoyed flowing wine, incredible cocktails, and a table that challenged us to see charcoal in a completely new way.

A special thank you to @bachbid5 for pushing me to explore charcoal through food and trusting me with the challenge. Thank you to everyone who came with an open mind and embraced something different. And thank you to @atelierartistbk for making space for narratives like these to exist and grow.

Thank you to @happycorkbrooklyn for curating our wine selection. Our guests enjoyed every sip!

This was only the beginning. I can’t wait to see where our creativity takes us next. 🤍🩶🖤

Side Note: I have way too many pictures on my phone to share on here. I’ll just lay in bed scrolling through them while smiling ear to ear. My heart is so full!

Chabon (charcoal) is a Haitian cooking staple, used to heat or char-grill food (boukane) - but this weekend, we saw it become so much more.
Artists Nathalie (@nathaliejbarts ) & Bacheler (@bachbid5 ) brought us into a culinary + visual art experience, turning chabon into food, live painting, and music - all in one night. From an edible cheese painting to a live portrait, this was art you could taste, see, and feel.

I absolutely loved the process of making this charcoal bread🖤 Baking will always have a special place in my heart.

*⚠️Update: Activated charcoal actually CANNOT 🙅🏾‍♀️absorb alcohol. Alcohol is absorbed very quickly into the bloodstream through the stomach, and activated charcoal does not bind well to alcohol molecules.

⚠️ Friendly reminder: Activated charcoal should be used in moderation. It can absorb not only toxins, but some nutrients and minerals. It’s a very cleansing agent.

Community is built through shared experiences. As part of @chabonartseries x @pilonlakay , guests had the opportunity to be photographed by @mcalexanderciceron throughout the evening. Later, @bachbid5 and @monvelyno surprised @shirlene_saintlouis with a birthday serenade and a delicious cake, these moments remind us that some of the best moments are never planned and how important it is to celebrate the people we love and the community we’re building together.

@bachbid5 opened up his creative process, @nathaliejbarts reimagined Haitian flavors through thoughtful bites inspired by charcoal and djondjon ( Haitian black mushroom) and the evening ended with a beautiful performance by Bacheler, accompanied by @monvelyno, Jean Raymond, and Natie.
