I’ve officially logged 1500 hours as a pilot!👩🏻‍✈️ It took me 7.5 years to gain this amount of experience, and I now qualify for the ATP (airline transport pilot) certification. This is the highest level of certification you can receive from the FAA. I didn’t think it would take this long to get here, but I never gave up on myself. I was even lucky enough to build some of these hours in a jet. There were times when I felt hopeless and alone in my journey, and that I might never get where I wanted to be, but my journey looks very similar to some of my peers. I’ve realized that I wasn’t alone in my struggle, and many people went through their own adversities to get here. I’m so humbled to be a part of the aviation community, and I admire the tenacity that it takes to soar at this altitude. Girlies in the cockpit living our dream! 👩🏻‍✈️👩🏽‍✈️👩🏼‍✈️✈️ And yes, all of us have worked just as hard to be here as our male colleagues. We wouldn’t be sitting in these seats if we weren’t fully qualified to do so. We put in the work and earned all certifications required of us to be where we are today. Never have I ever had the pleasure of an all girl crew swap in my 11.5 years of flying, until now. Will it ever happen again? I hope so!
