Yankee Doodle found her forever home, so let me introduce you to Banannie 🍌

This 2025 Husky A-1C 200 is loaded to the gills: lightweight struts, an Acme Aero stinger, VGs, a baby bush wheel and my personal favorite, the Hartzell Propellers Pathfinder, a 3-blade carbon fiber prop.

Add 26” Goodyear Tundra tires and a clean VFR panel and she’s just perfect.

There isn’t a human on this planet I idolized more than Murray Kot.

He was kind, charismatic, a legendary storyteller, and a world-class pilot. Contrary to what he might tell you, he was brilliant. He knew a lot about nothing, as he liked to say, a testament to his modesty. Most of all, he made everyone laugh, that hard, belly-aching laugh you couldn’t help but join in on.

Some of my favourite evenings were spent at the hangar, trading stories. His were always better: flying in Cambodia, buying a camel in Israel, his days working as a model, punching his chief pilot in the face, the list goes on. He loved a good prank too, rubber dog shit in his FO’s meals among them.

I’m lucky to have flown alongside him, and even luckier for everything he taught me along the way.

- Fly the plane with military precision, because the airplane deserves as much.
- Airspeed is life, altitude is insurance.
- A speck of ice on your airframe is too much.
- If you ever get into trouble: deny everything, act surprised, and look concerned.

In one of our last conversations, he told me, “Annie, don’t delay, fucking well do it and bugger everything else.”

I plan to do just that.

He’s gone down for crew rest now. I’m looking forward to seeing him again, when I join him for crew rest of my own. by @pilotannie

The journey to AirVenture this year was very different from years past.

@schmiiindy and I tried to get out of Canada and start the journey both Friday and Saturday but were stuck due to smoke and storms.

On Sunday, we made a break for it and were lucky enough to be one of the first ten airplanes to arrive at KOSH after the airport went from IFR to MVFR.

It was certainly an adventure, and I’m so grateful to have had such a great friend and mentor along for the ride.

The Bahamas are calling...

Had the best time flying with @flywithfreedomair last month. Blown away by how quickly we made it from Florida to the Bahamas, it literally took 45 minutes in the Epic E1000GX.

In 2019 I returned from Oshkosh and remember telling a friend that I finally found my people. That sentiment still rings true.

Can’t thank this community enough for inspiring me, caring for me, supporting me and most of all making me feel so at home.

To the wonderful people I get to call my friends, I’m so grateful for you. Here’s to another year of adventures to debrief and chat about in the years to come.
