Yesterday was 9/11. One of the most tragic events in our country’s history, one that changed the world forever. I had the privilege of being in NYC this weekend, and it made me think about a few things. One of which I’d like to share with you.
For most of my life, I’ve worn a red bandana somewhere on me whether that’s on my arm, as a headband, around my neck, or in my pocket. It means many things to me, one of which has to do with this day.
Welles Crowther. He was a 24-year-old young man who played lacrosse, volunteered at his local fire department, and worked on the 104th floor of the World Trade Center. He, too, carried a red bandanna wherever he went. It was a gift from his father. He wore it daily, even under his helmet while playing lacrosse in school.
That same bandanna covered his nose and mouth as he moved floor to floor through the towers, finding paths through the smoke and leading people to safety, saving their lives instead of his own. He gave his life for people he never knew, and he did it without hesitation.
I never knew this man. I never met him. He passed before I was ever on this earth. But when I wear my red bandanna, I look down at it and think of his bravery and sacrifice. I feel like I carry a little piece of him with me, and his story has inspired me ever since I first heard it.
Welles Crowther was a true hero, alongside every firefighter, police officer, civilian, and every person who aided others or gave their life that day. So thank you, all of you. You are missed. You are respected. And you are remembered. Thank you for showing the world what true heroes really are. taken in New York, New York by @pilotbunch

A little BTS from THE END OF OAK STREET!

The boys and our bikes! These were a lot more painful than they look.

Taking laps around set. Early morning walk.

This was one of our takes chasing after the one and only @christianconvery !

The set was locked down. Lips shut, door sealed like crazy. Neighbors was the code name.

Do I look bonita?

Nice little fitting pic for you guys. My butt looked great in those jorts.

THANK YOU TO OUR CRAFTY TEAM!

Simms, Hudson and I just doing our thing. I was legal 18 at the time and I didn’t have to do school so we would just kick it.

Ladies and gentlemen, today is a very big day. Today is the release of The End of Oak Street.
This is a very special project to me — not because of the size of my role or my amount of screen time, but because of the people who are the reason behind this film.
For those of you who know me, you may know that I’ve disliked most films that have come out in the past few years, and it’s been a while since there’s been one that truly impressed me. Now, that may be because of my overwhelming nostalgia, but regardless, this film broke right through it. I truly believe it’s one of the best films I’ve seen in a very long time, regardless of being in it, and I can’t wait for all of you to see it.

Like I said, the thing that makes it so beautiful is the people behind it — from my director David Robert Mitchell, to our producers JJ Abrams with Bad Robot, all the way down to my fellow actors.

Christian, incredible job. I’m beyond impressed with how you’ve grown into who you are now, and your performances. It was an honor to share the screen with you. I truly cannot wait for the next one. I’m extremely proud of you.

And lastly, to you, Hudson. I love you, brother. This film is the reason for our friendship, and you changed my life despite the short time you were in it. I’m just happy I got to experience the beautiful human you were. I want you to know that even now, you still impress me. Your performance was incredible.
I miss you.
