Dark in Frankfurt, sunrise over China, sunset in Tokyo. Almost 13 hours on a 777F flight deck in 28 seconds 🌅

Flying east eats the night. We took off out of Frankfurt into total black, and a few hours later the sky ahead was turning orange while everything behind us was still dark.

The sun came up somewhere over China, right in front of us. Nobody in the back to see it, only a main deck full of pallets.

Then the long way down into Narita, touching down right at sunset with the golden hour still holding.

What to do on a LAX layover? We flew a Cessna into the desert for a burger and met the man who flew around the world non-stop! ✈️

Mojave Air & Space Port is where retired airliners wait. Some for a new owner, most for the scrapper. We took a rented 172 out there during our Los Angeles layover between SWISS flights LX 40 and LX 41 to enjoy the view and have a burger. 🍔

Then Dick Rutan walked over to our table! In 1986 he flew the Rutan Voyager around the globe without landing once. Nine days, three minutes and 44 seconds.
