I'm grateful to have the love and support of @pinayism Dr. Allyson Tintiangco-Cubales for my 2026 campaign for Daly City Council. Because of Dr. Allyson Tintiangco-Cubales, I know that building our collective community power now and for generations to come takes rooted, radical and revolutionary love.

I chose to serve the Daly City community as a Council Member and two-time Mayor because I LOVE this community. I believe in what can be possible here.

Vote for Rod Daus-Magbual this November election - and let's get to work.

For us, harmony was never just about our voices. It was about friends finding one another, making space for each other, and using music to be seen, heard, and counted.

Our story emerged in the same era as the birth of Pinayism — a time when Filipina women challenged what we were told we could be while building community, creating art, and making visibility possible.

Today, for the world premiere of our documentary, we ask you: What will we build together?

Maybe it starts the same way — with love and sisterhood. With support. With showing up for each other. With creating, amplifying, and making space for all stories to be heard.

Thank you for welcoming ours. -Maylene, Angelica, Irma, Loredie 🎶

Sometimes, it’s harmony raised in song.
Sometimes, it’s a brave battle cry.
Sometimes, it’s a crowded hall singing in unison.

In the ‘90s, Pinay wasn’t just music. They were the soundtrack to an era of identity, resistance, visibility, and pride.

Now, our story comes alive on screen.

🎬 Pinay the documentary. The music. The women. The movement. The memories. The liberation. @pinaymusic @pinayism

Dear Dawn,
How is it that the space between your death anniversary and your birthday is exactly a week? It’s also the week when the weight of requests and regrets multiplies. This year feels heavier than usual.
School is about to start for some, some for the first time... elementary, middle, high school, college. I still remember the time you got your first day of teaching wrong and missed the whole class. It’s okay, though, because you still became the best teacher they ever had. I remember when you showed up in two different shoes on the first day of another class... one brown, one black... because you always bought multiple colors when you liked how a shoe, or a pair of pants, or a blouse fit.
If I think way back, I can find our first days at UCLA, the day we met. Spoken word artists destined to become Resistance and Struggle. Oh, our adventures, from the first days of school to the last. The laughter... your shit-talking was unmatched; your wit could have won any balagtasan.
And the memories of injuries. The many. We have the scuffed knees from tripping on the sidewalk. And I will never forget the time you slammed my thumb in the car door after an all-nighter at Wendell’s, because you’d forgotten to pay the electricity bill. And yes, I remember driving myself to the health center because you only had an hour before class... lol. That’s the hand that now carries the tattoo, a radiant Dawn, eight dots for eight years, pointing to my heart.
Always,
Allyson
PS: Happy 54th birthday, BFF! Dawn Mabalon is in the Heart 4 eva eva. I hope you, my mom, Auntie Addie, Inay, Grandma, Uncle Leo, Joyce, E, Wendell, Lyle, Larry, all the Manongs, all the late (ha ha double meaning) PEP teachers, and so many who have gone too soon are having a fun ass birthday party for you. Oh, and please say hi to your new guest, Linda. by @pinayism
