Cycle Study 004

The seasonal animal migration cycle is a recurring process through which animals move between habitats in response to changes in daylight, temperature, food availability, and breeding conditions. Migration connects feeding grounds, breeding grounds, and seasonal refuges. Its timing, routes, and distances vary among species, and some cycles are completed across multiple generations.

Seasonal changes in daylight duration
Changes in temperature and rainfall
Changes in food and water availability
Activation of hormonal signals
Onset of migratory restlessness
Increased feeding before migration
Accumulation of fat reserves
Gathering into migratory groups
Departure from seasonal habitats
Navigation using environmental cues
Movement along established migration routes
Resting at stopover sites
Feeding and replenishment of energy reserves
Arrival at breeding grounds
Courtship and mate selection
Nesting or preparation of breeding sites
Reproduction and birth of offspring
Growth and development of young
Feeding during the productive season
Preparation for the next migration
Departure as seasonal conditions change
Migration toward wintering grounds or seasonal refuges
Arrival in habitats with suitable food and shelter
Feeding and energy conservation
Survival during less favorable conditions
Renewed responses to seasonal cues
Return migration toward breeding grounds
Repetition of the seasonal migration cycle by @ping.en.hung

Vandaag gaat het @amsterdamfringe festival van start! In het Plein Theater is er een verrassend programma van makers die de wereld niet voor lief nemen en de grenzen van performance opzoeken.

3–5 sep | Slug by Xiao Chuyue 🐌

Between dozing and clowning, an hour went by. And he didn’t feel he was their enemy; perhaps he was no one’s enemy; perhaps the had become a good man. He didn’t hate them even when, a little before their station, they went out, leaving the door and the curtains wide open. He got up, barricaded himself again, savoured once more the pleasure of solitude, but with no bitterness toward anyone. — Italo Calvino

Dear Italo,

I do not need solitude to feel love or to feel alive, but I need love to enjoy my solitude. Do you? Why consider the passing of time an enemy? Instead, it is the passing of thoughts that makes us numb to beauty. I do not need much in life—just my love and a window with the view of a train in motion. by @ping.en.hung

Cycle Study 003

The oxygen cycle is a continuous process through which oxygen moves between the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere. Oxygen is constantly produced, consumed, transformed, stored, and released through biological, chemical, atmospheric, and geological processes.

Oxygen exchange between the atmosphere and oceans
Oxygen dissolution into freshwater
Oxygen diffusion into soils
Oxygen uptake by plant roots
Photosynthesis by terrestrial plants

This is not a story because I don’t know any stories like this but all I know how to do is go along saying and doing: it is the story of instants that flee like fugitive tracks seen from the window of a train. — Clarice Lispector

Dear Clarice,

I never try to write or live a story. Is story even important for any narratives? I fail catching any motions, I fail floating with any stream, but I still feel my existence here and there. How do you feel your being? How? by @ping.en.hung

Now it is an instant.

Here is another now.

And another: My effort: to bring now the future to here. I move inside my deep instincts which carry themselves out blindly. I feel then that I’m near springs, pools and waterfalls, all with abundant waters. And I free. — Clarice Lispector

Dear Clarice,

I try to be as close as possible to now. I try to taste as much as possible of now. I try to let now set me free. To bring now to the future or to bring the future to now is a question. To answer this question now, or not to answer it, is another question.

I try to get closer to now, and now is also trying to get closer to me.

Dear Clarice, which now are you freeing now? by @ping.en.hung
