Yesterday I completed my fifty miles for Target Ovarian Cancer, and raised £226 for this very important cause. This money will go towards raising awareness so that more women and more medical professionals can have a greater understanding of the symptoms of Ovarian cancer. It will also help staff the telephone line that provides invaluable advice and support for those of us living with ovarian cancer. I'm so proud to have been part of this fundraising event, and hope to do more for the charity in the future.

Made Pistachio and cranberry chocolate bark, to take for dessert to a friend's house tomorrow. I love making this, it's so easy it feels like cheating, but it always goes down well.

In January I'm walking 50 miles to raise money for Target Ovarian Cancer. Today's snowy and rather lovely walk was round my local park.

Six months post chemo, and I'm starting to feel almost human again, despite the weight gain, and the nausea and fatigue from the maintenance drugs.
I'm even enjoying my new wavy hair!

This is me this morning, almost 63, no make up , except for my usual wonky eyebrows - only one of them grew back after my treatment 😂
Just happy to be here.

We had a wonderful week whale watching in the bay of biscay, with a brief stop in Santander, which is somewhere I'd love to go back to and spend some more time exploring!
I wasn't sure I'd enjoy being on a boat for so long, but I ended up loving it. There was nothing else to do all day but stare at the sea, and it was unbelievably relaxing. Exactly what we needed after the trials of the past year.
This week, though, it's back to reality. I started a two year course of a drug called Olaparib, which is supposed to help stop my cancer coming back, and I've felt so rough! I wake up feeling sick in the morning, and have been tired and ache all day. Here's hoping the side effects wear off quickly! by @pinknylon

So I've finished chemo and my scan results were clear. It's really wonderful news, but like everything else about cancer, my feelings around it are not straightforward. I'm seeing a Macmillan counsellor, which really helps, as I move into this new phase of my life. The beautiful sunny weather is helping too! by @pinknylon

Photo from yesterday's dog walk, because today was spent in the chemo centre. It's a funny way to spend Christmas eve, but I'm halfway through my treatment now, so the end is in sight!
Having cancer is obviously incredibly difficult for everyone, but I sometimes think that people who have slightly control freaky tendencies, like me, face additional challenges. When you have a serious illness, you're not in control, and it's very hard to let go and accept that. Christmas, for example. However much I want it to be perfect, circumstances beyond my control mean it's definitely going to be a bit haphazard and disorganised this year - there are presents still unbought, meals not planned. My eldest son has flu and won't be able to come over for the day. And I've got to learn to just breathe... and let go.
It's like the song says. ' Sometime soon we all will be together, if the fates allow. Until then we'll have to muddle through somehow. So have yourself a merry little Christmas now.'
Here's wishing you all a joyful and peaceful Christmas with your loved ones, and all the best for 2025 ❤️ by @pinknylon
