I had absolutely no idea how important this show would be when I said yes. I've loved playing with @nycgmc for the last 2 years, but I didn't know when I agreed to this gig that it would be helping to settle a score from the 1980's when the NYC Gay Men's Chorus earned a spot to sing at ACDA through blind audition, but were almost banned outright because of the word "gay" in their name. They chose to perform without mention of their name, but the blow and homophobia were clear.

Last week, they returned as the headliner to the conference under their own name. There was a veteran member from that same chorus in '84 still singing. @scotthoying wrote a song for the occasion and premiered it with us on stage. To say it was emotional is a drastic understatement - I thought I was gonna start balling after the opening number.

I'm beyond grateful to them for having me as their bassist, to the amazing musicians I get to perform with, and to my bed for finally being able to catch up on sleep (I'm still exhausted!).
