After each Early Shift event, I say to my husband, “okay, that was the biggest and best one yet! How can I top the next one?”

This one is hard.

After 14 years, I’ve officially stepped down from the Pink Wig Foundation board and as President.

A few days ago at the AGM, it became official. I knew it was time, but that didn’t make it easy.

Pink Wig started in 2012 while Tracy was still alive. After her diagnosis, we kept thinking, “We need to do something.” Truth is, we had no idea what the fuck we were doing.

That first fundraiser raised around $40,000. What started with a small group of friends and family has now helped more than 100 women across Saskatchewan.

Pink Wig gave me a place to put my grief and a way to keep Tracy’s legacy alive. It also taught me more than I ever could have imagined about people, relationships, community and simply saying yes and figuring the rest out along the way.

To every board member, musician, donor, volunteer, sponsor, business, family member and friend who ever gave your time, money, talent or support, thank you.

Every dollar. Every hour. Every song. Every helping hand. Every idea. All of it mattered.

To every woman and family Pink Wig has supported, and to our fallen angels, thank you for letting us be a small part of your lives.

And to the caregivers: I see you. I really do.

To Tracy’s parents and entire family, I have nothing but love and respect for you.

I’m incredibly proud of what Pink Wig has become. The board is the strongest it’s ever been, and I know they’re going to kill it.

Tracy, you never chose any of this. You shouldn’t have had to. But somehow, out of something so fucking unfair, something beautiful grew.

Pink Wig exists because of you.

Thank you for the life you gave me, the people you brought into my life, and for teaching me that even when you don’t know what the fuck you’re doing, you can still start something that matters.

These events are essential in creating spaces centred around women and the queer community. Who doesn’t love an inclusive dance party that starts and ends in time for bed?! WE DID IT!! 💗⛳️

Our 1st Annual Pink Wig Foundation Golf Tournament raised an incredible $12,000!!!! On the first year!!!!!

For our very first year, we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better day.

A huge thank you to our 74 golfers who came out and embraced everything we threw at them, our hole sponsors and prize donors who jumped on board for an inaugural event, and everyone who bought raffle tickets, 50/50 tickets, took a shot at the putting contest, donated, volunteered, or helped make the day happen.

And of course, a huge thank you to the Wakaw Lake Regional Park Golf Course for helping us host this event and to everyone who contributed to keeping our costs down so that more of what we raised could go directly to the Pink Wig Foundation.

$12,000 raised in one day. 💕

We are incredibly grateful — and already pretty excited to see what we can do with year two.

Thank you SO much for being part of our inaugural tournament. We couldn’t have done it without you! 💗⛳️
