Lunchtime Hippo Politics at Pinnon Lodge

Father and son have been fighting all week, and today's lunchtime viewing was no exception.
The youngster keeps trying to return to his mother, but Dad is having none of it, repeatedly moving him away and reminding him of his place.
We've seen this behaviour before, but this particular youngster seems especially cheeky. According to Martin, he's constantly testing Dad's patience and pushing his luck.

While it may look a little harsh to human eyes, this is all part of the natural social dynamics of the pod. In fact, it feels as though we're witnessing the turning of a generation, as the older bull begins to encourage the youngster towards greater independence.
