Creating a few nice textures using a mix of acrylics, oil pastels and water-soluble pastels.

Think these will make a few good backgrounds and plant textures for our illustrations.

Sharing a few process sketches and character designs from June’s Solar Oven, written by @jenmaliabooks and published by @charlesbridgepublishing .
We really enjoyed creating the colour palette for this, using bright yellows, pinks and greens. We decide to use a mix of acrylics to create the bright colour and texture as well as, pencil, pastels and digital collage to create the more delicate textures. Scroll to see some behind the scenes sketches.

Join June in an exploration of solar energy, engineering and trial and error as she constructs a solar oven and makes pizza crackers. This book is part of STEAMWORKS, a series of fiction books that relate to science, technology, engineering, arts and math.
Available to pre-order now. Link in bio.

Fred and Ted-they have matching briefcases and red hats, we wonder where they are going?

We created this one using only black wax crayon and red oil pastel. Enjoying working in limited palette.

🎨 It’s also #kidlitartpostcard day so taking this opportunity to introduce ourselves: We are identical twin sisters that work together as an author-illustrator duo. We love to create playful and witty illustrations with lots of texture. We work in a mix of acrylics, oil pastels, print making, gouache and procreate.

Elephant and Snake are playing hide and seek. Snake doesn’t seem too impressed with Elephant’s hiding places though.

We created these two in a mix of acrylics, collage and pencils.
