Personal note, for posterity.

It started with Mr. Tambourine Man — a 14-year-old girl sitting in Guwahati, India, going on a ride and exploring an entire universe through the lyrics of one song. And, in a way, that song opened up a universe for me too — a gateway to everything that came thereafter: the Beat Generation and its poets, free thinking, the strange and beautiful capacity of art to heal the world, and, most importantly, the belief that hope springs eternal; that you are alive for as long as you are hopeful and thinking.

Fourteen-year-old me, naturally, also decided that if I ever made music, I would call myself Tambourine Girl — a rather ambitious pseudonym, in hindsight, but one I still secretly quite like.

And then, on 31 July 2026, at Synovus Auditorium, I saw the same man in flesh and blood. It felt like a dream, and somehow the culmination of a journey that began in childhood and carried me into a future that is still unwritten.

If life were a film, and at the very end we were shown glimpses of the moments that mattered most, I know this would be one of them: sitting there with my brother — the very person who first introduced me to his music and set this whole journey in motion.

Somewhere in the mundanity of life, I had forgotten what that fourteen-year-old girl already knew. And that night, Mr. Tambourine Man reminded me:

I’m ready to go anywhere.
I’m ready for to fade
Into my own parade.
Cast your dancing spell my way —
I promise to go under it.

Perhaps Tambourine Girl was onto something after all. taken in Atlanta, GA, USA by @piplilive18

Finally mustered the courage to sing this with a swirl of childhood memories, nostalgia, and love within.
To speak of Assam without Zubeen Garg is to miss its soul. My humble ode to his eternal legacy.#zubeen #zubeengargmusic #zubeen_da🙏❤️ #zubeen_garg #assam #instadaily #instagood #music #maya #mayabini❤️ taken in Kolkata by @piplilive18

A little out of tune, a few misplaced lyrics — much like life, but we keep singing anyway. #papontotherescue#instadaily #instagood #music #trendingreels #instalike #songs #instalike #instamood #india #bollywood #indianfood #papon #musician taken in Kolkata by @piplilive18
