From the very first touch, @katiefearnmitchell & @tommitchell3 copy of LIFE feels incredibly special. An olive cloth cover, timeless and soft, finished with crisp white blocking to perfectly align with their wedding colour palette - understated and elegant. LIFE is a book you leave out, the kind people instinctively reach for.

Inside, the story unfolds slowly. Layers of vellum drift between chapters, translucent and delicate, carrying bridal sketches and design details so you glimpse what’s coming next before it fully reveals itself. Pages that invite you to pause. To linger. To feel.

The end papers echo the luxurious green and cream coloured table linen. Florals press gently across the pages. Their beautiful stationery sprinkled delicately through their story. We’re Pippa and Ian, a husband and wife team of photographers, story-tellers, and the creators of LIFE - the most beautiful bespoke coffee table book in the world.

Whether you’re new here (welcome!) or have been following our journey for a while (thank you!), we just wanted to say how happy we are that you’re part of our growing tribe.

We believe deeply in the power of stories. Our stories. The imperfect, beautiful and deeply personal stories that shape who we are and connect us together. In a world that feels so fast, so noisy, it’s more important than ever to slow down and hold tight to what really matters.

That’s why we created LIFE. A luxurious, tactile and timeless bespoke coffee table book the captures your story, honestly, beautifully and with deep meaning.

Some books just take your breath away... and Gabrielle & Michael’s copy of LIFE was one of them. A bold fuchsia cover, white de-bossed fonts to match their bespoke stationery @rowenaoven , and flamingoes - yes, flamingoes… sprinkled through the pages.⁠ ⁠ Their wedding was a story in two parts: an intimate welcome party at @numbersixmarylebone, followed by the most exquisite celebration @kewevents , surrounded by friends and family flown in from across the world.⁠ ⁠ We captured it all - their delicate florals, personalised vows, the heartfelt words of @natraybouldweds , the ceremony sheet music, speeches….. And the endpapers?Oh what a treat - a work of art in themselves, featuring hand-drawn illustrations of their guests by the incredible @sarahsmartdraws. Every detail, carefully chosen. Every memory, lovingly preserved and designed in the skilled and elegant way.  ⁠ No two copies of LIFE are the same. LIFE is a luxury and unique bespoke experience from start to finish. A little reintroduction to the other half of LIFE…

This is Ian.

Designer. Photographer. Maker. Problem-solver. Film obsessive.

And the person who takes everything we discover about your story and works out how it should live on the page.

Ian has always made things.
At age 3, he took apart his pram and put it back together again. Today, there’s a life-size R2-D2 in our hallway that he built himself. Flashing lights, noises… the lot.

So perhaps it was inevitable that his work would bring together design, photography, film, storytelling and an almost obsessive attention to detail.

Design taught him how to communicate. Photography taught him how to see. Film taught him how to pace a story. And being a maker taught him that the best things are rarely created from a formula.

That is exactly how he approaches your book.

There are no templates. No prescribed layouts. No design simply dropped onto your photographs.

He asks: what does your story need?
Where should it feel quiet? Which photograph needs space to breathe? Where should the pace change? Could a handwritten note, a letter, a map or one tiny detail say more than another image ever could?

He notices the things other people might miss - the glance in the corner of a photograph, the image you had forgotten about, the sequence that suddenly makes you feel the memory again.

Give Ian thousands of photographs, notes, invitations, menus, letters and fragments of your story and somehow, he finds the thread running through them.

Not by making everything neat.
By making it meaningful.
And that, for me, is what makes this journey so special.

Your story is never passed to a template or a faceless design team.
It is held, understood and designed by a real person who cares deeply about getting it right.

Because no two lives are the same.

Your book shouldn’t be either.

I’ve been so excited to share this story with you!

Claudia & Aaron’s spectacular London winter wedding last year 
The way it all felt. And wow, did it have a lot of feelings! Love, joy, tenderness, laughter, singing and dancing quite literally til you drop.

And now, months later, they can hold that story in their hands.

Their bespoke copy of LIFE is luxurious and tactile. Beautifully quiet in places, wonderfully full of life in others. Delicate translucent pages reveal parts of the story slowly. Bespoke drawings sit alongside photographs and intimate details give way to sweeping black-and-white spreads.

It isn’t a collection of wedding photographs.
It feels like their wedding story has become a book.

And when it arrived, @aaron_phillips95 waited until @claudiaamyphillips returned from a trip so that they could open it together.

Their message to us afterwards:
“The tiny details… let alone the book that has quite literally come to LIFE is just unbelievable.”
“The whole process from start to finish has been more than we could ever have asked for.”

And perhaps our favourite:
“It’s even better than imagined.”

Because you can design LIFE on a screen. You can approve every page. You can know exactly what is coming.
But nothing quite prepares you for the moment it becomes real.
For the weight of it in your hands. For slowly turning those pages together. For suddenly being transported back to a day that went by far too quickly.

That is why we created LIFE.
Not simply to show you what your wedding looked like.
To give you a way back to how it felt.
And one day, to give the people who weren’t even there a way to feel it too.

A little reintroduction…

I’m Pippa - mum to Poppy, wife to Ian, photographer, former BAFTA documentary filmmaker, qualified life coach & co-founder of LIFE.

For most of my career, I’ve been fascinated by people. Relationships, connection and the small details that tell us far more than the obvious milestones ever could.

After years of photographing weddings, I kept seeing the same thing. An extraordinary day. So much thought, emotion & meaning poured into it.

And afterwards…thousands of photographs. Vows tucked away. Speeches, stationery, letters, little details - all gradually becoming scattered pieces of a story.

Where do you even begin?

That question sits at the heart of LIFE.

Because I don’t believe the most important chapters of our lives should end up as digital files we rarely look at.

I want you to be able to return to them. To remember not simply how everything looked, but how it felt.

Becoming a mum has only made me understand that more deeply. Poppy is suddenly 13, and it has taught me just how quietly and quickly time moves on.

The things we assume we’ll always remember… we don’t.
Perhaps that’s why all the different parts of my life have led me here.

Documentary filmmaking taught me to look beyond the obvious. Photography taught me to notice. Motherhood taught me how fleeting it all is. Life coaching taught me how to really listen.

To ask the question behind the question.
To hear the story behind the photograph.
To recognise the handwritten note, forgotten anecdote or tiny moment that may matter more than the most perfect picture.

And I think that might be my superpower:
seeing the story hiding amongst the noise.

Our clients often come to us with thousands of photographs and no idea what to do with them.

My role is to find the emotional thread. To work out what really matters.

Then Ian and I turn it into something tangible - completely bespoke, beautifully designed and made to last for generations.

Because LIFE isn’t really about making a beautiful book. It’s about preserving the people, the words, the laughter, the atmosphere and the moments you never want to lose.

It’s about remembering how your life felt.

The greatest luxury isn’t how something looks. It’s how deeply it makes you feel.

When @fopetttake2 & Chris began their LIFE journey with us, we asked them a question we ask every client:

How do you want to feel every time you open this book?
They replied: “Loved. Light. Warm. Beautiful. Sophisticated.”

Those words became our compass.

Their story begins with a first meeting in Chicago, moves through an extraordinarily thoughtful proposal, and unfolds into a three-part wedding celebration filled with the people, places and details that mean the most to them.

But it was the less obvious things we wanted to hold onto too.

The symbolism of whales.
 The sense of fun that runs through their relationship. 
The people who have loved them unconditionally. 
And their belief that deep connection takes thought, intention and nurturing.

LIFE isn’t about gathering beautiful photographs into beautiful pages. It is about understanding what those photographs mean.

Taking the time to listen and ask questions. To notice the threads running through a life. And then translating all of that into something deeply personal - something that feels unmistakably like you.

A few weeks ago, Forrest & Chris travelled 4,000 miles from Chicago and made collecting their LIFE part of their honeymoon. They opened it for the first time here in our Sussex studio, before we took them for lunch at a local vineyard.

There were tears. Laughter. Stories. And this wonderful sense that the journey itself had become part of their story too.

Their words afterwards said everything:
“Thank you so much for a beautiful and magical day, and for being the cornerstone of our honeymoon… We are so excited to treasure our LIFE for the rest of our lives.”

And perhaps that is the greatest privilege of what we do.

We don’t simply make books about people’s lives. We create something that allows them to feel their life - all over again.

And one day, for generations who never knew them to feel something of it too.

The final chapter of a LIFE journey deserves to feel every bit as special as the story itself.

Last week, Forrest and Chris travelled from Chicago to our little corner of the Sussex countryside to collect their bespoke copy of LIFE.

Like so many of our clients, they live thousands of miles away - but they wanted the moment they first held their finished book to be something they would remember too.

So, we timed it perfectly with their honeymoon.

After travelling first to Scotland and then down to London, they came to spend the day with us at here at Old Lakers - opening their copy of LIFE for the very first time in the calm of our studio, turning those pages together, reliving the stories we have spent so many months carefully bringing to life.

And afterwards, we took them for a lazy lunch at Kinsbrook, a beautiful neighbouring vineyard, and chatted easily over delicous sharing platters and wine.

It was one of those days that reminded us exactly why we do this.

Because LIFE has never simply been about creating a beautiful book.

It is about connection. Trust. Listening. Extraordinary craftsmanship. And caring deeply about the people whose stories we are entrusted to tell.

We often hear that what we do feels completely unique.

We believe it is too.

And @fopetttake2 and Chris’s words afterwards meant more than they will ever know…

“Thank you so much for a beautiful and magical day, and for being the cornerstone of our honeymoon. It’s been such a pleasure working with you and Ian. We are so excited to treasure our own copy of LIFE for the rest of our lives. 💕”

What a privilege it has been to be part of their story.

Kelly Michelle & Matt flew in from the US for Cliveden House. They’d fallen for the place, and for the way it looks after everyone who walks through the door.

Before the ceremony, they met at the Golden Gates for a first look and read their vows privately. Just the two of them, no audience. This trailer is the first time those words have been shared with anyone else, and we still can’t get through them dry-eyed.

Across two days we were treated like family — not kept at the edges, but pulled into it. That kind of warmth stays with you. Thank you both.

Do summer picnics get any better than this? 🌼🧺
To celebrate the British summer we chose to picnic amongst the flowers on @marlston_farmgirl idyllic flower farm. 🌾
Partnering with @fieldbar.co .co saved the day and meant that we could serve ice cold @gusbourne_wine in the middle of a heat wave! 🥂
Huge thanks to @addisonrosshome for the gorgeous tableware, the linens really popped against the “once green” grass and were the perfect backdrop to our flowers (from the very farm that we were sat in, naturally) 💙and @sadgrovefarm for the zero waste, sensational food.🍽️
