My Dearest First Born Daughter,

Happy Birthday Darling. I could write a whole lot about the joy you have brought to me, you have been a blessing to me, I thank God always for you. How you lead effortlessly, how you excel in everything you put your mind to do.

The medals you have won, the things you know about history and science and God, and how you strive to know more and get more knowledge. It amazes me the woman you are becoming.

I once listened to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s talk “We Should All Be Feminists” and agreed with many of her points. It made me realize that to have a society where women can truly fulfill their feminine roles without aggression, little boys must be raised with the same values as little girls.

I grew up with just my brother.
No sisters.
So from early on, I longed for deep female friendships.
I craved that sisterhood…
So when I met other girls who shared a bit of my heart, I held on tightly. And when I finally found some of those bonds in life, I cherished them deeply.

Over the years, she has grown into someone deeply passionate about the environment, science, tech, and the climate. Watching my sister-friend grow in her purpose has challenged me. She’s not just nurturing plants—she’s nurturing a calling. And it has made me look at my once-thriving Aloe Vera and wonder: what have I allowed to wither in my care?

We often forget to nurture what God has placed in our lives—our dreams, our talents, our relationships. Sometimes it’s not because we don’t care, but because life happens. But the truth is, growth only happens when we’re intentional about care.
