The base doesn’t build itself. 💪

At Pisgah Training Lab, we show up, we work hard, and we make each other better so we can do the same thing out on the mountain. This is where we put in the work for the adventure.

Small group classes + personal training in Pisgah Forest, NC. Come in. Do the work. Get back out there.

Every big day out is built somewhere. The ridgelines, the long descents, the “one more mile” — none of it gets easier. You get stronger.

What are you training for this fall? Tell us below 👇

24 Miles. 5,000 Feet. No Shuttle.

What started as a plan for the Art Loeb Trail turned into something different when rain, lightning, and logistics forced a last-minute pivot. Instead of calling it off, Carmen and Rebecca adapted and set their sights on a self-supported loop through the Middle Prong and Shining Rock Wilderness.

The result? 24 miles and 5,000 feet of elevation gain through some of Western North Carolina’s most beautiful terrain, with rhododendron and flame azalea in peak bloom.

Both athletes came into the day with a strong foundation focusing on strength, mobility, stability, and endurance. A few extra long runs layered onto that base gave them the confidence to tackle a big mountain day and come away stronger.

Rebecca summed it up best: “The gym definitely helped with stability, mobility, and endurance.”

And despite a cranky knee around mile 20, the day was nearly hiccup-free. Even better? Not even sore the next day.

Big mountain goals aren’t always about perfect conditions. They’re about adapting, staying consistent, and being ready when the opportunity comes.

We’re proud of these two and excited to see what adventure they cook up next!
