an archived project, back in orbit ⏾⋆.˚

a few years ago, we worked on a brief asking how to make space feel meaningful again for younger generations. returning to it now, amid renewed attention on space, private launches, planetary tech, and future-facing rhetoric, it feels strangely current.

we explored how space could be made relevant through ecological thinking, digital culture, and a different emotional language altogether. the essay unpacks the strategic thinking behind that shift in narrative.

Oloris — created by @pitch_studios and @gentle.systems — is a research-led project and prototype that translates scent into visual behaviour.

It reads subtle shifts in the air and translates them into colour and motion, opening a new layer of perception that sits between atmosphere, memory, and technology.

Scent shapes how we recognise moments, places, and people, yet it rarely leaves a trace. Oloris explores how those fleeting impressions could gain a clearer presence — something perceptible, archivable, and part of our shared digital experience.

Full research and essay at gentle.systems/page/oloris or via the link in bio.

Scent shapes memory fast, long before we think about it, and that’s where Oloris started.

We wanted to see whether those impressions could be understood in a different way — something you can recognise at a glance and feel connected to.

The project explores a path toward expressing scent visually, and the research behind it shows it’s not as far-off as it once seemed.

embodied intuition as a way of thinking through technology 💭🤳 NEMA explores how navigation can follow sensing, rhythm, and subtle signals already familiar to the body.

for NEMA, colour works as a language, forming a shared lexicon across web, identity, and interface, inspired by chromatic shifts found in marine life 🪼💧🐬

the visuals translate the device’s colour-based communication into website elements, a micro-identity, and speculative mobile UI, mapping how the system could extend across digital touchpoints.

a full essay on the project and its conceptual framework coming soon on our Substack.

NEMA is a speculative wayfinding device exploring how guidance in airports could feel quieter, more intuitive, and more attuned to the traveller’s inner state 💆✈︎☁️

developed with @gharage.io and @neufutur.xyz, the project looks beyond efficiency-led navigation and asks how movement through terminals might respond to perception, timing, and emotion. worn on the body or attached to a bag, the device communicates through subtle colour and behavioural cues, shaping orientation without screens or constant instruction. retail, pause, and transition become part of the same continuous journey.

the project sits within a wider research effort into the future of airport systems, where automation and data coexist with the need for human-scale experiences. NEMA acts as a speculative framework for how responsive guidance and retail could evolve together inside these environments.

you can read more about the project and its context in GHARAGE’s latest report, Airport Futures: Responsive Retail, now live on their website.

in collaboration with @readymag, we’ve curated a selection of five websites built on their platform through the lens of cyber-serenity 💻🐌💭

the selection brings together different expressions of that idea — some shaped through visual language, others through the experience of moving through a page, and others through how content sits within the layout.

across the curation, colour, spacing, and composition work in quiet alignment, creating web spaces connected by visual harmony and a sense of ease, each approaching cyber-serenity from a slightly different angle.

‘meaning begins to take shape when ideas move through connection…’ 🫶 grateful for all the support around our quantum culture essay! it’s been amazing to see how many people connected with this line of research.

if you’ve just discovered our work or missed it the first time, here’s another chance to dive in.

quantum culture has been our slow research thread this past year — a continuation of digital culture, tracing how quantum ideas and references are showing up in art, design, philosophy, and tech 🤔💭⚗️

it’s been hard to put into words, but this essay is a first attempt to make sense of what we’ve been observing so far.
