my first full weekend of sports car racing 🏁

Recently I was invited to @cota_official for the SRO race weekend. Throughout it I wrote down a few observations and thoughts from someone familiar with single-seater racing but newer to sports car series.

1. I saw so many kids’ eyes light up having “up close” moments with the cars and drivers — all ticket holders had access to the paddock. 🤩

2. With five series racing, the on track action is almost constant so there’s PLENTY to see over the weekend.

3. To learn the basics, it helped me to find the crossover points between the series I know best (F1) and SRO. For example, yellow flag procedures exist across racing series but procedures/verbiage vary — in @sro_motorsport series you’ll hear “local yellow” describing a yellow flag at a specific turn, as opposed to hearing “yellow flag in sector __” in F1. ⚠️

4. There’s variety within the series: for example, some run with a dual driver format (where the drivers swap during the race) and some with a single driver format — and some have mandatory pitstops in the races while others don’t.

5. This aforementioned variety brought to mind a lot of questions as it’s a lot to take in at once — everyone I spoke to was more than happy to answer anything I asked and it made my weekend such a memorable one. 🥳

Huge thank you to @tay_bells for inviting me out and making it possible. 🫶

2023 was the year I decided to test my comfort zone. 🙌

I gained so much from doing this, both personally and professionally, working with a corporate motorsport program, two F1 clients and with racing drivers at client events, race weekends and filming days. I dove into the public relations, content creation, editorial and social media management worlds and learned an enormous amount.

To push past my comfort zone, I did things like reaching out to people I admire in motorsport, saying yes to learning new things, and welcoming opportunities I knew would grow me and, aside from the skills above, I gained more self-confidence, a supportive community, and a desire to continue this journey. 🏎️

With that said, I’m seeking out my next adventure in motorsport! My passion, skill, and experience are broad, extending from communications and public relations to content production, content creation, and social media management.

If you’re looking for someone who would approach a role with a forward-thinking, collaborative, and driven attitude, my inbox is open, and I would love to have a conversation. 😊🏁
