Our @pittasce team competed in the Civil Engineering Student Championships in Fairmont, WV last week against schools from all over the world. Students from @pittengineering, primed with their oars, raced the Andy Warhull through the slalom course and the 200-meter sprint on Tygart Lake. The University of Pittsburgh has been tasked by @nasa to try and track the Orion spacecraft on their journey around the moon. Students and faculty from Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Panther Amateur Radio Club are using analog designs alongside AI tools to help speed up the calculations so they can get real-time data.

Pitt is one of just 8 universities working with NASA to see if groups outside the space agency with amateur equipment can track a spacecraft hundreds of thousands of miles away.

Congratulations to our Chem-E-Car Team, who competed at the AIChE Mid-Atlantic Conference at Virginia Commonwealth University this past weekend! 🥼🧪🚗

Swipe to see a video of our car at competition, which traveled a total of 20.24 meters!📏

Our car, The Lighthouse, utilized a lead-acid battery, providing up to 12 volts of electricity to the motor, driving the car forward. Simultaneously, a chemiluminescence luminol reaction was used to stop the car through a light sensor!

We are so proud of this team and their hard work over the year!!👏 by @pittengineering
