so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to attend my first American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) convention in San Diego this past weekend! Went to so many interesting presentations, lectures & fireside chats, made some connections with future colleagues & mentors, and ultimately really committed to becoming an anesthesiologist (even if the path is perhaps more meandrous than anticipated).

As an introvert, signing up for some long days of being an extrovert (aka networking and talking to strangers) was perhaps daunting but people were so welcoming and encouraging and having the opportunity to be surrounded by such intelligence & community was so great. Felt a little ironic to need to wear long sleeves/blazer given the weather but matching the business casual dress code seemed necessary, so it’s what i did (begrugingly).

There was something so fascinating about experiencing Slap Peričnik - a waterfall in Slovenia that you could walk behind - with Emeline. In some ways, it reminded me of favorite waterfall in Iceland - but in others it was so new and unexpected because I had no clue of the itinerary for the day and the short “technical” hike was an adventure with Emeline. I felt like I was inching along backwards (with a thick drop off on one side) and Emeline was still shouting at me to slow down. We could hear the intensity of the falls and we were definitely getting soaked; in some ways sensory overload, in others just enough to reset the brain and marvel at the beauty of the world. Grateful I stopped guiding for a few seconds (and my lense was clear enough-ish) to capture the first image!

still kinda responsibly stuck at home from the rain 😕 and thinking about the last time a storm kept me inside (stuck on a tiny Greek island). Here are some snaps from climbing (& seen-on-the-way-to-climbing) photos, sprinkled between all the rain days 🌧️ + two photos from a stroll around Athens. Fun fact: one of these photos was staged and the climber was not on belay… any guesses?

(safely) stuck at home during a Nor’Easter so it seems like a good time to edit and post some photos. Here are some of my favorites from Testing 123.2!

Pictured: the beauty of Lake Bled.
Not pictured: the time we rented a boat for an hr, @emelineclimbs took 45 min to paddle one way to an island, we chilled on Bled island, and then I frantically rowed back in the middle of lightning/thunder storm. At least the storm clouds made for some good clouds & pretty cotton candy sky…

Slowly adjusting to east coast time & recovering from my 5* country adventure.

A while ago I had called dibs on Innsbruck as “last comp” before residency… and while that didn’t exactly go according to plan, happy to report most(?!) of this trip did (tho it did get exponentially more adventurous). More thoughts and images to come!

*Emeline would say we ventured to 10 countries: layover in France, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, train through Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, layover in Poland & home to USA.

📍: Soteska Vintgar / Vintgar Gorge aka i think my favorite / calmest place visited this trip (even if the staff member insisted I put my camera 📸 on when he meant helmet)
