#bustersinventory @ayeshatjordan

words - @archivaljelsen + art direction
Jordan’s Clothier an Afrocentric Experience was a clothing store founded by Los Angeles-born Frederick 'Buster' Reynoir Jordan in Winchester, Virginia in 1991. Mr. Jordan’s inventory consisted of headwear, jewelry, hosiery, accessories, sportswear, and menswear that catered to the town’s relatively small black population.

When hip-hop’s Afrocentric trend hit hard in the early 90’s so did the popularity of his store. Folks from the surrounding Virginia towns of Berryville, Front Royal, West Virginia’s Martinsburg, and Charlestown frequented the shop for the latest gear including In Living Color and NWA printed tees, oversized denim jumpers, and Malcolm X baseball caps.
This editorial is an ode to Mr. Jordan and the store which closed last August immediately following his passing.

Each piece was originally hand-picked for the retail store by Mr. Jordan himself decades ago. After his passing his daughter, Ayesha Jordan, salvaged a few boxes from the closing business. taken in New York, New York by @pj3
