Most vocalists I know strongly dislike singing solos during a bgv gig (myself included, lol). We judge ourselves EXTREMELY harshly during these moments. We can overthink, may not feel our best so we worry we can’t give our best, or the sound is trash and you can’t dig in the way you like, etc. Though it may sound unnecessary to some - you need to prepare to be caught off guard. That way, in those moments your body and spirit align and you just live in the moment. I promise you I rarely - if ever - remember what I did during a solo. I won’t be able to duplicate that moment either. It was what it was. I guess I said all that to say…I still hate soloing 😂.

Seriously, tho (lol)…be kind to yourselves, and allow the moment to do what it does. Practice being present.

Aight. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. K’ye bye! 🤸🏾‍♀️ lol

#Misophonia Just pray for me lol

Key Findings on Misophonia and Musicians

Heightened Emotionality: Research indicates that individuals with higher misophonia sensitivity often have stronger emotional responses to music, showing enhanced auditory-emotional processing.

Musician Sensitivity: Individuals with musical training may be more susceptible to sound sensitivities, potentially due to heightened auditory attention and neural plasticity from training.

Trigger Variations: While common triggers include chewing or tapping, musicians with misophonia may specifically struggle with particular musical elements or genres due to their instrumentation.

NOTE TO MIXING ENGINEERS
Understanding the Musician's Perspective - Not Just "Annoyed": A trigger sound can make a musician feel immediate rage or fear, often leading to them wanting to leave the room.

It’s Not Personal: Misophonia often triggers a stronger reaction to sounds made by people the person is close to, such as bandmates.

Hidden Sensitivity: Many musicians with misophonia have very sensitive ears, which can also translate to a highly developed musical ear.
