4:50 in Sydney!! 🇦🇺

While we didn’t PB, I’m incredibly blessed to have been selected for the ballot to run the @sydney_marathon and represent @runsaipan and the CNMI 🇲🇵 I was also very amused by those who tried to (either successfully or not) read “Saipan” on my shirt 🤣

While I didn’t have anyone who could travel with me to Sydney, I am incredibly blessed by the support of my family, pastor, friends, and fellow Run Saipan members who utilized both the official TCS Sydney Marathon to send cheers and via WhatsApp and Messenger for additional support.

Shoutout to @runna for the amazing finisher portraits!!

I know I always say never again, but I just know I’m going to sign up for a full marathon again 🤣 hopefully gonna complete my Six Stars @wmmajors

At the end of my workshop, I asked everyone to submit one word they were taking away.

I’ll show you what came back in a few slides. It wasn’t the word I expected, but it was also the word I was hoping to see.

Three countries, three days, and one question: What does a free and secure tech future actually look like?

45+ delegates. Three countries. State department alumni. Day 1.

Before you can build anything together, you have to actually meet each other.

Day 1 started with a Human Scavenger Hunt! 😅

My amazing group!

We had three days to build a project pitch proposal, presented to our fellow delegates and resident experts on Day 3. No pressure! 💀

Then they handed us 2036.

The tabletop exercise dropped our groups into a scenario where a rogue actor had outpaced the Trilateral nations in AI and emerging tech. Each phase forced us to decide: what research do we prioritize? What services do we preserve? How do we protect national security?

We were workshopped through a grim 2036.

Then we worked backwards.

Day 2 took us to USPACOMM — no photos allowed inside, though I did spot the Guam and CNMI flags! 🇬🇺🇲🇵

Back with our group in the afternoon, I knew what I wanted to put on the table: the environmental cost of AI and emerging tech. Nobody had raised it yet.

On Day 3, I co-led a workshop with one of our Japanese delegates and one of our YSEALI delegates on how the Trilateral can widen the door to Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the Pacific.

Three of us, three regions, one room.

This was the part I came to say.

The CNMI was hit by back-to-back super typhoons. We emit almost nothing of wha taken in Honolulu, Hawaii by @pjsantss

To God be the glory!

While I officially graduated on paper in January, there was no way I was going to pass on the chance to attend the CSSP Recognition Rites yesterday (KAPP Araw ng Pagkilala) and the University Commencement Exercises today.

Even though finishing my Master’s took far longer than I planned, I keep returning to what the Lord impressed on my heart while I was working on my hardbound copy:
“There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven… [God] has made everything appropriate in its time.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11a)

Thank You, Jesus — without Whom none of this would have been possible. From my application to graduate school in 2020, without knowing a pandemic would unfold, without knowing I would move back to Saipan, and without knowing this journey would take nearly six years — this has been sustained entirely by Him who gives me strength and who causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Medal Monday: Completed the whole Taronga Zoo with marathon legs

Started from the top/uphill section of the zoo and made my way down 🤣 caught some amazing shows in between to rest the legs 😅

Love zoos that have a big focus on conservation efforts and this was definitely worth the day trip 🫶
