You make time for Christmas with your family. You make time for St. Valentine's Day with your sweetie.
We make time for St. Patrick's Day, obviously... and "Shark Week", which is officially over starting now. We make time for Halloween, which has officially started as of now.

In our circle, we don't make "New Year's Resolutions", we do a mini-bucket-list, one goal for ever year of the century.
One of my "26 in 26" was to present my cocktails at other people's bars.
Thanks and Cheers to the team @jiveturkeydive for getting whimsical with me and taking a chance on "Gin and Red Bull"! by @pjvaderbaron

For our 21st and last year (in Park City), the curtain begins to fall on the @sundanceorg Film Festival. Sometimes we see 11 movies in 3 days. Sometimes we see 3 movies in 11 days. We always have chili, @wasatchbeers, @drinkhighwest Whiskey, and Sunday Family Supper @grubsteakparkcity .
Like anything else in these new "Roaring Twenties", the future is a dark highway at night. Maybe this group will start meeting in Boulder. Maybe we'll keep coming here and just watch Indies at the house, and go to the local cinema for shit like "Chipmunks 2: the Squeakwel". Maybe we'll become the kind of friends who always say, "we should TOTALLY meet up" and never do. There's a lot of uncertainty in the world and movies are the perfect escape from all that. taken in Sundance Film Festival by @pjvaderbaron

20 years ago, on a whim, I carelessly spoke into existence a Holiday tradition that also created with it my very first "Signature Cocktail".
It was an annual trip to San Diego, and on the first night of Hanukkah we'd go downtown to watch a Menorah being carved out of ice with a chain saw. There was food and songs and dancing, followed by a trolley ride to Tijuanna for different food and songs and... VERY different dancing.
Over the years we added gifting traditions, games, and Holiday dishes like Horchata Kugel, Brisket Tacos, and Latkes con Mole. But, the cocktail stayed the same. Before your Shelf Elf, was the Crunk Monkey.

What a privilege to contribute to @writeonrubee 's newest book @phoenixeatsanddrinks . Amazing to be back at my old stomping grounds @eatatzuzu for the launch party with some of the best Chefs and Mixologists in the game right now.
You can buy the book on Amazon, like everything else, but most of the featured bars and restaurants will be selling copies, so, wouldn't you rather find a new local business to patronize and get your copy signed by one of the Culinary Badasses featured in these pages? Never too late to pick one up as a Halloween present or too early for a St. Patrick's Day gift! by @pjvaderbaron
