When we opened our space in September, many of you asked to see it. We waited because we wanted the space to be experienced first, refined over time, and shaped by the people who walked in. Some things are better felt in person than seen on screen. Thank you to everyone who trusted us and helped us fine-tune the space over the past few months. And now, we’re happy to finally reveal it. Welcome to Khar Comedy Club x Loft 52—a space built by a passionate team with the aim of elevating the experience for both artists and audiences within the art and culture ecosystem. The space is beautifully designed by Compartment S4 and brought to life by our contractor with meticulous attention to detail. Technical lighting is powered by world-class ETC Lighting, while sound is delivered through RCF, known for its exceptional theatre-quality audio. The venue is seamlessly automated using Aqara, ensuring a smooth and immersive experience. This reveal marks an exciting new chapter for us. We look forward to welcoming you into the space and sharing many unforgettable moments together. ✨ Designed by: @compartment_s4 Lights: @electronictheatrecontrols Sound: @rcf_audio Automation: @dbgtech.in @aqara.smarthome.official Shot & Edited by: @myohofilms Special thanks to: @mellow.mumblings @man_uni @karanasnani @rajantheleo @ayush5028 @mitkava05 @tsf_infra & SK Mustaq Ali by @pkprerna
This picture is special—it’s my editor’s note from the last magazine I worked on at @animationxpress, closing out almost six years as a journalist there. Not many know what I actually do for a living—some of you may have just seen the occasional dance videos I share; but for all these years, journalism was my everyday. At ANX, I discovered an industry I never even knew had its own dedicated publication—the fascinating world of animation, visual effects, gaming, comics, esports, and technology. With a curious and creative mind, I loved exploring every side of it: the creative process, the business dynamics, and even the policy conversations shaping it. From joining as a trainee reporter to becoming deputy editor, the journey was full of experiences I’ll always carry—writing stories, interviewing people across the globe, mentoring young reporters, curating conferences, putting together industry reports, and of course, magazines. The Annecy and Animation & More Summit edition in particular will always remain closest to my heart. The people—both in the industry and at ANX—have been so kind and supportive, and I’ll always be grateful for that. And a special thank you to @anilwanvariofficial, who placed his trust in me and constantly pushed me to grow beyond what I thought possible. I’ll always be grateful for the learnings, the trust placed in me, and the many kind people I met along the way. I’m thankful for everything this journey gave me and am excited for the next chapter. ✨ by @pkprerna
Khar Comedy Club | Performance Space | Mumbai By day, the mirrors come out. By night, the stage takes over. The pivoted partitions give the same set of panels two distinct roles: full-height mirrors for dance practice and a geometric Art Deco-inspired composition for performances. No additional footprint, no elaborate transformation, just a change in orientation that changes the room. ‘Khar Comedy Club’ (KCC) is an intimate stand-up comedy venue in Mumbai that transforms during the day into ‘Loft 52’, a multipurpose space for experimental gigs, performances, shoots and other creative pursuits. Spread across 900 sq. ft., the project explores how a single space can serve different creative communities, adapting to their needs while retaining a distinct identity. It is the brainchild of stand-up comedian Sumit Sourav and performer Prerna Kothari, who set out to revive a much-loved underground comedy club in a new avatar. Khar Comedy Club | Performance Space | Mumbai A good creative space does more than host performances. It gives people a reason to return, a stage to try something new and a community to be part of. From established comedians to first-time performers, KCC creates room for different voices, formats and ideas to share the same space. These visits and conversations are a glimpse into the community that continues to shape it. ‘Khar Comedy Club’ (KCC) is an intimate stand-up comedy venue in Mumbai that transforms during the day into ‘Loft 52’, a multipurpose space for experimental gigs, performances, shoots and other creative pursuits. Khar Comedy Club | Performance Space | Mumbai Drawing from Mumbai’s Art Deco heritage, the design explores arches, geometry and a palette of deep reds and greens to create a distinct identity without relying on literal ornamentation. Within the twelve-foot-high volume, a lightweight suspended metal loft houses the technical controls while overlooking the stage. Beside it, pivoted partitions shift between mirrored surfaces and a geometric composition for performances, allowing the space to adapt without losing its character. ‘Khar Comedy Club’ (KCC) is an intimate stand-up comedy venue in Mumbai that transforms during the day into ‘Loft 52’, a multipurpose space for experimental gigs, performances, shoots and other creative pursuits. Khar Comedy Club | Performance Space | Mumbai Every comedy club needs a backdrop that people remember. At KCC, arches, geometric patterns and a palette of deep reds and greens draw from Mumbai’s Art Deco legacy without recreating it literally. Beside the stage, pivoted partitions add a distinct spatial element, shifting between mirrored surfaces for daytime practice and a geometric composition that complements the performance space at night. ‘Khar Comedy Club’ (KCC) is an intimate stand-up comedy venue in Mumbai that transforms during the day into ‘Loft 52’, a multipurpose space for experimental gigs, performances, shoots and other creative pursuits. Jamshedpur, you took me by surprise! 🤍 1. Jubilee Park!! The best. Reminded me of Jaipur. 2. Felt surreal to see factories in middle of the city or should I say city built around factories. Big fan of the roads!! 3. Jubilee Park. So well maintained. 4. Travelling through the roads. 5. The batata puri. Mixed feeling about the chat here. 6. The crowd on the day before Dussehra. 7. Too fascinated by this factory-city road/infrastructure. 8. First time seeing a female filling tanks. Reminded me of Kolkata when I saw female sitting beside the auto driver in share rickshaw. 9. Litthi Chowka - starting to like it! A really cool thing I noticed was that no one keeps tissue paper. Rather they have water kept for people to wash hands /drink it. 10. Did I say clean, bump free roads?! Look at the trees 🥺 11. Nature nature nature 12. Everyday visited this place. I need more parks in Mumbai😫 13. Spectators of Durga visarjan 14. Road lights being cut off on the day of visarjan 15. Stumbled upon this cricket ground on the outskirts of main Jamshedpur city. 16. Love the door decor with money plant. The purple and green combo.. 🤌🏼🤌🏼 17. Early morning walk at Jubilee Park ♥️♥️ Such a well maintained water body in the middle of the city. Udaipur should take notes. 18. Quaint life. Just men randomly fishing for leisure? 19. Fin 🤭 by @pkprerna

The entry sets the tone for what lies beyond. Posters, a waiting bench and a narrowing passage create a gradual shift from the chaos of the street to the intimacy of the performance space. A small transition, but one that builds anticipation before the show even begins.
