The evening featured an open forum with representatives from the Department of Agriculture Veterinary Services, (DEH) Environmental Health, and Animal Protectionand Enforcement Unit, including the Director and Deputy Director of Agriculture, answering farmers’ questions and discussing the challenges affecting livestock development.

Fusarium Tropical Race 4 (TR4) is one of the world's most destructive banana diseases. While TR4 is NOT present in the Cayman Islands, keeping it out is essential to protecting our local farms, backyard gardens, food security and biodiversity. 🍌🌱

The Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Health Inspection Services (AHIS) remains vigilant in protecting our borders against harmful plant pests and diseases.

The revised fee structure has been in effect since 1 September 2026 and applies to first-time driver’s licence issuance and renewals, as well as learner’s licences, written tests and road tests.

📢 Plan ahead: DVDL office closures
All DVDL offices will be closed on Friday, 23 October and Saturday, 24 October 2026, for a staff workshop and team-building exercise.

📍Breakers and West Bay will open on Monday, 19 October, during normal business hours, in place of their usual Saturday operations.

Following the closure:
• George Town will resume normal business operations on Monday, 26 October.
• Breakers and West Bay will reopen on Tuesday, 27 October.

💻 Vehicle and driver’s licence renewals can be completed online at www.dvdl.gov.ky.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

The Eastern Link is now running.

The free shuttle serves East End and North Side and is open to all passengers.

🌿🪴 Plant Parents, We See You! Your Plants Are in Good Hands with DoA! 🔍🌱

Our Monthly Saturday Plant Health Clinic is going wonderfully, and we love seeing just how much people care about keeping their plants healthy! 💚

Some visitors came prepared with samples and photos, while others went the extra mile and brought their entire office plants to make sure they weren’t slowly killing them! 😂🪴 And honestly, we love to see it!

Our Plant Protection team has been on hand to examine plants, answer questions, and share practical guidance on how to keep those office plants, or indoor & outdoor plants thriving. From understanding what your plants need to identifying potential problems, a little expert advice can go a long way!

Because whether you're growing crops, tending to your backyard garden, or trying to keep your office looking green and lively, every plant deserves a chance to thrive! 🌿🙌
