Amongst all the happenings at PlaidFox—the studio I started nearly a decade ago—I found myself, over the past few years, doing two things at once: starting a family and building the home I had always dreamed of.⁠
⁠
What began as a simple pencil sketch—set on a dream lot just ten minutes outside the city—and shaped through many, many long hours of design, has grown into a home that encapsulates so much of what defines both myself and our team’s aesthetic: a focus on livability through dynamic interiors, a balance of boldness and restraint, and above all, a home that feels truly alive.⁠
⁠
Having this home featured in @vogueliving is a genuine honour—and one of those rare, pinch-me moments that makes all of those long hours feel entirely worth it.⁠

This home was brought to life by so many incredibly talented people, and I couldn’t be more excited to finally share not only the home itself, but the people behind it.

Magic in the mountains with @cobiesmulders & Taran Killam

Seeing this home featured in @archdigest feels pretty surreal. This project, created as a mountain escape has been a true watershed moment for both myself and the studio — and honestly made me fall in love with design all over again.

The idea of layering boldness, evoking story, and infusing character has always been a non-negotiable part of my design process, and this home epitomizes all of those things. I knew from the beginning this home needed to feel bold, layered, and unapologetically full of personality, which felt fitting given the family behind it.

The home reflects so much of what I love about design: richly layered spaces that celebrate local makers, remarkable tradespeople, and the beauty of a deeply collaborative process.

We couldn’t be more grateful to the many hands that helped bring this vision to life. A special thank you to @julietizon and the AD team for so thoughtfully capturing the spirit and unique character of this home in your story.

I can’t wait to share more from this project.

Every room in this home was designed with the same philosophy: surround yourself with the things you can’t live without, then find a way to make them belong together. A well-curated home is built through the slow hunt, collecting treasures over time, and in some cases, creating entirely new ones from scratch.

The dining nook — where the mess and everyday life unfold.

A banquette is a smart solution for tighter spaces. It eliminates the need to pull chairs in and out, comfortably seats more people than traditional dining chairs, and makes every inch count.

Don’t decorate. Curate.

This vessel I found in an antique store in San Miguel Mexico, Originally from Oaxaca it was used to store Olive oil and surprisingly weighs over 200 pounds. It arrived months after I bought it in a wooden crate and now lives in the kitchen.

The green room — a room designed for reading, listening, and slowing down.

Conceived as a retreat within the home, this space was intentionally designed to envelop. Wrapped in rich, tactile finishes, it feels visually disconnected from the surrounding rooms, creating its own distinct atmosphere.

There’s something comforting about a room that feels as though it has always existed. Designed for reading, retreating, and slow mornings, the space layers woven textures, micro florals, and handmade fabrics over a distinctly modern foundation. Quietly nostalgic, I wanted it to feel like a fresh take on the classic lakeside home.
