California is one of the wealthiest and most economically powerful places on Earth. That makes its persistent problems harder—not easier—to excuse.

Under Gavin Newsom, California has continued to struggle with:

🏕️ Homelessness: roughly 187,000 people were experiencing homelessness in the state’s 2024 count—more than any other state.

🏠 Housing: California remains one of America’s least affordable housing markets, the product of decades of inadequate supply, restrictive land-use rules and extraordinarily high development costs.

⚡ Electricity: customers of California’s major utilities have experienced substantial rate increases. Wildfire mitigation, grid investment, utility costs and state energy policy all contribute.

💰 Spending: California’s state budget has grown enormously since Newsom took office, while volatile tax revenues have repeatedly produced major projected deficits.

🚚 Population: California experienced several consecutive years of population decline and substantial domestic out-migration, although its population has recently returned to growth.

Here’s the point: not every California problem was created by Gavin Newsom, and no governor controls everything.

But after more than seven years as governor, the record belongs to him too.

When government spends hundreds of billions of dollars annually, taxpayers are entitled to ask:

What are we getting for the money?

Judge politicians by measurable outcomes—not speeches, intentions or party affiliation.

More spending isn’t success. Results are. taken in California USA by @plaintruthcollective

Immigration enforcement is not uniquely American.

Canada. Australia. Japan. The UK. Germany. France. Sweden. Mexico. New Zealand. South Korea—and many others—all have laws allowing the removal of foreign nationals who lack a legal right to remain.

The policies and due-process protections differ, but the underlying principle is ordinary international practice:

A sovereign country controls who may enter and remain within its borders.

That does NOT mean every ICE action is justified. Agents should follow the Constitution. Due process matters. Asylum claims must be adjudicated. Misconduct should be investigated and punished.

But we need to separate those legitimate debates from the claim that deportation itself is inherently racist or authoritarian.

You can have zero criminal convictions and still lack legal authorization to remain in a country. Immigration removal is generally a civil legal process, not simply punishment for committing a violent crime.

Want immigration laws changed? Debate them. Vote. Pass legislation.

But having immigration laws—and enforcing them—is something countries across the political spectrum do.

Enforce the law. Protect due process. Hold government accountable. Apply the rules consistently.

Those principles can—and should—exist together. by @plaintruthcollective

Context matters: total deportations depend heavily on policy definitions, enforcement priorities, and time in office—not just who’s president. by @plaintruthcollective
