カルチャーの熱が常に渦巻く街、イギリス・ロンドン。パンクが残してきた反骨精神、多国籍なコミュニティが生む混沌としたミックス感、そして限られた環境から己のスタイルを切り拓く若者たちのDIYマインド。それらが幾重にも層をなして混ざり合うことで、ロンドンは今もなお“新しいカルチャーを生み落とし続ける都市”として存在している。 そんな街で自らの表現を研ぎ澄ませてきたアーティストのひとりが、 @plainwhitefee だ。手染めによる衣類の制作から、巨大キャンバスへと広がるペインティング、さらにはデジタルとフィジカルを自由に往還する表現。その作風には、彼にしか成し得ないオリジナリティが溢れていた。 今回 Sick Dan は、新たなクロージングライン @5_1_c_k をローンチする。同ブランドのテーマは、“パターンの開発”。各アイテムは彼自身の手でデザインされ、ロンドンのアトリエで1点ずつ手染めされたピースに加え、日本でプリントを施したシリーズも登場。パターン、カラー、構成、そのすべてが再生産なしの一点物として完結した、まさにアートピースとも呼ぶべきコレクションだ。それは、衣服という形式を通じて彼の思想と現在地を可視化する試みでもある。さらに今回のローンチに合わせ、東京・渋谷を拠点に独自のキュレーションで絶大な人気を誇るショップ @blue_room___ にてポップアップを開催。オーナーの @htk2626 と Sick Dan が出会ったのはここ2年とのことだが、両者の根底に流れる“表現に対する姿勢”や“ものづくりの距離感”には明確な共鳴がある。アウトプットこそ異なるものの、どこか深いところで接続している、そんな関係性だ。 そこで『Hypebeast』は、Sick Dan と Hatsuki による対談を実施。11月21日（金）〜23日（日）に行われるポップアップを前に、今回の five-one に込めた意図、ロンドンと日本という“島国同士”のクリエイティブのあり方の違い、そして2人が考える“表現”について語ってもらった。 続きは @hypebeastjp のプロフィール🔗から Photo : Yuki Kawaguchi/Hypebeast by @plainwhitefee
