We’re still smiling thinking about Shine Festival! ✨

What a DAY! From the big conversations and inspiring speakers to the laughs, the connections and all the unforgettable moments, Shine was everything we hoped it would be and MORE! 🌟

Shine is a day that is dedicated to celebrating young girls, building confidence, embracing individuality and reminding every single person in the room just how incredible they are. We wouldn’t have been able to pull this off without our amazing partners, exhibitors, speakers and teachers so a huge thank you to them. The impact doesn’t stop when the festival ends.🫶

And finally, a massive THANK YOU to every girl that joined us and danced their heart out, the energy was UNREAL. 💃⭐️

Evelyn wants to become a software engineer. But first, she needed a safe way to stay in school.

At 16, Evelyn has big ambitions for her future.

But living far from school in Manicaland Province, Zimbabwe, meant facing long and dangerous journeys every day.

She worried that those journeys might eventually force her to give up her education.

Then something changed.

A girls' dormitory was built near her school, giving Evelyn a safe place to stay and the opportunity to focus on her studies.

Now, she's working towards the future she wants.

The terms said getting an education could put her safety at risk. Evelyn is moving beyond them.

Because girls shouldn't have to choose between their safety and their ambitions.

✍️ Girls never agreed to these terms. Neither should we.

The unwritten rule? Girls should stay quiet.

Riya had other plans.

Growing up in southwest Bangladesh, 16-year-old Riya lived in a community where girls rarely spoke publicly or took on leadership roles.

She was shy and hesitant to share her thoughts.

But with training and support, Riya began finding the confidence to speak up. And soon, she wasn't just speaking up for herself.

She was leading conversations with other girls about menstruation, reproductive health and the issues that matter to them.

At first, not everyone was ready to listen. But Riya kept going, building trust and even engaging with parents to help challenge attitudes in her community.

Today, she's helping create space for other girls to learn, ask questions and make their voices heard.

The terms said girls should stay quiet. Riya is changing them.

And she's not alone. Around the world, girls are challenging the expectations that have limited their choices for generations.

You can join us and work alongside girls like Riya, supporting their leadership and helping remove the barriers standing in their way.

Same question. Different answers. 🤖

What if AI encouraged a boy to become a doctor, but suggested nursing to a girl?

New research from Plan International found that AI can give different career advice and salary recommendations based on gender.

And it's not just about careers.

AI is increasingly shaping how young people learn, see themselves and imagine their futures.

💬 Girls deserve advice shaped by their potential, not outdated stereotypes.

Technology should open doors, not reinforce barriers.

Our new report explores how gender bias in AI affects young people and why girls need a voice in shaping its future.

Today, she's speaking out so other girls can have the chance to finish school, pursue their ambitions and make their own choices.

“I do not want her to get married like I did.”

Girls never agreed to these terms. Neither should we.

What do periods, unsafe journeys and child marriage have in common? 👀

They're all barriers that can stand between a girl and her education.

And none of them should be.

For millions of girls around the world, staying in school isn't just about having a classroom to go to. It's about having the safety, support and freedom to learn.

Girls shouldn't have to overcome inequality just to get an education.

👉 Swipe to discover 3 barriers you might not have thought about.

Yesterday our Youth Advisory Panel members had the chance to learn how to make reusable pads, with a workshop facilitated by the amazing volunteers of @irishpachamamas 🫶🏽 we had an amazing time continuing our week long focus on period justice 🩸✨ by @plan_ireland

🧚Hi Fairies 🧚
We were delighted to join plan Ireland for the exhibition "That's on Period" highlighting menstruation, period poverty, education, equality and so much more. It was truly wonderful to talk to so many people about periods and all things related. 🩸

Terms & Conditions Apply: Girls Eat Last.

Imagine being told that because you're a girl, you should eat last. Especially when there isn't enough food to go around.

For some girls and women facing hunger crises, this isn't hypothetical. Gender inequality can determine who eats first, who eats least and whose needs are prioritised.

And when food is scarce, those inequalities can become even more dangerous.

But hunger shouldn't come with terms and conditions.

This #WorldFoodDay, we're calling for a world where every person has equal access to food, nutrition and the opportunity to thrive.

Girls never agreed to these terms. Neither should we.

Yesterday we launched our pop-up exhibition That’s On Period 🩸

And as you can see from our CEO’s face, it was an interactive exhibition exploring menstruation as an issue of dignity, equality, education, health and human rights 👀📸

Last night during our launch we had an amazing time thanks to everyone who showed up to support us, especially our Youth Advisory Panel members who have been behind this event and campaign since day 1!

Thank you as well to the wonderful @the_period_fairies who were brilliant ✨ 🦋and not only gathered knowledge from attendees but also gave them the chance to experience what period pain can feel, helping bring the conversation and messages behind the exhibition to life!

And also to the amazing DJ @orla_littleo who just made our night so much fun and a great give 🤩🥳

And of course @flux_dublin for the incredible venue and @shakumakudublin for another year of delicious food 🍲✨

Thank you for joining us and if you can catch the last few hours of the exhibition today!
