New design work for The Numero Group! The 15th edition of the hand-screened series is the Revolution Summer band, CARPE DIEM’s “Trust Little To Tomorrow.” Recorded at Inner Ear with Don Zientara and Ian MacKaye in 1986, this was originally issued on cassette in an edition of 50 and then shelved for 40 years. Always excited to work on DC related projects and it was a blast working with Derek and Ravi of the band. Alex went on to the best band in the world, SWIZ. Thanks to Adam and the Numero Team. Hand screened by @deadmeatdesign in an edition of 500 and sold out.

New design work for Numero Group. ANTIOCH ARROW’s “Your Hearts Belong To Us” combines their complete Gravity recordings, plus a pair of outtakes and two live tracks. Comes with a 24-page book with Tony Rettman liner notes, a Cedric Bixler-Zavala fan letter, and a slew of sick pics. Printed with rich black, spot varnish, and Pantone 187 on a tip-on gatefold jacket and comes in 3 vinyl color options. When I heard about this project, I immediately reached out to Adam from Numero saying I had to work on this. The last slide is my flyer from the time I saw Antioch Arrow when I was 17. Their chaotic noise blew the JNCOs off of me so hard that the next day I went to the thrift store, bought pants that actually fit, and started rethinking the entire existence of the band I was in. Thank you Aaron, Maxamillion, Mac and Adam & Ken at Numero.

New design work for The Numero Group! The 14th edition of the hand-screened series is PATTERNS MAKE SUNRISE’s “New Youth Sound.” It contains the Seattle “tweemo” (?!🧐?!) band’s 7”, demo, and a couple of live and unreleased jangly jams. Hand printed in a sun drenched orange with a pattern swirly enough to make silkscreener, Josh @deadmeatdesign , a bit dizzy 😵‍💫. Thanks to George and the Numero Team. Edition of 500 and sold out. @thenumerogroup by @planaria_design

New design work for The Numero Group! The 13th edition of the hand-screened series is CARS GET CRUSHED’s “Warped Speed,” their lost third record. Always fun to work with bands that I got to see back in the 90s. Their first LP, “Drag Explosive” was a favorite of mine when it came out (still have my OG copy). It was the perfect blend of what I was into at the time... like a post-hardcore band on AmRep Records. I somehow missed their 2nd LP, so was excited to hear how they evolved when this project came up.

As a call back to the original “Warped Speed” 7”, we went with black ink on one side of the jacket, labels, and insert, and color (red) on the other sides. Super crispy silk screening by @deadmeatdesign in an edition of 500… and like the others in the series, all gone.

As always, thanks to George and the Numero Team!

Past design work from 2003. YOUNG PEOPLE’s “War Prayers” released on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records. “Avant-Americana” full of tension from choreographer Katie, Jeff (Pink & Brown, Lavender Diamond), and Jarrett (Skull Sküll). Striking cover portrait by Veronica Vasicka (Minimal Wave). The record apparently was messed up on streaming, but corrected a few days ago so check it out!

Past design work, circa 2006. “Demos at Dance Place” was the first release from Georgie James featuring John Davis (Q And Not U, Title Tracks, et al.) and Laura Burhenn (Myrnabirds, The Postal Service, et al.). Amazing songwriting and harmonies inspired by 60s pop & 70s (power) pop.

Past Design Work, 2024. Cassette version of the Frail compilation, “No Industry” for Numero Group. Can’t even remember the last cassette I designed so was stoked to hop on this. It also inspired me to tune up my Nakamichi cassette deck and get the wired remote control working again!

Past design work... Father’s Day Edition! The cover photo is of my oldest son, Julian. He told me he had a “boo boo” on his finger so I asked him to show it to me and I snapped this photo. It ended up on the cover of Sunwolf’s catchy debut, “Angel Eyes.” I was then awarded Father of the Year, 2014.

New design work for The Numero Group. The 12th edition of the hand-screened series is RYE COALITION’s “Pulaski Skyway & Other Bridges Burned”… a collection of demos, 7”s, and splits. All packaged up with a booklet with liner notes from Tony Rettman and a bonus rubber-stamped 7”. In the early 2000s I got to work on Rye’s Tiger Style releases, “On Top,” “Jersey Girls,” and “ZZ Topless” so I was stoked when this project came up. Again, always fun to work with bands that I was lucky enough to share stages with back in the day. Second to last slide is a photo of me and my bandmates (I’m dead center) watching Rye at the American Legion Hall in DC on 8/4/94… a show that gets a brief mention in the booklet.

New design work for The Numero Group. The 11th edition of the hand-screened series is Endive’s “Dead Roses.” Their 1994 demo pressed on vinyl in an edition of 500 and hand-screened on chipboard. Always fun to work with bands that I saw and played with in the mid-90s!

Past design work. Libretto’s underground hip-hop classic, “Ill-Oet: The Last Element,” released on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records, 2004. Libretto gained prominence in the early 2000s as a core member of Portland, Oregon’s Misfit Massive crew, which also featured Lifesavas (Vursatyl, Jumbo Da Garbageman, and Rev. Shines), Sly da Brown Hornet, and Dubb-Flexx The Wolverine.
