We gathered at the @les.css × @minorplanetny pop-up shop with @joehollier of @thelightphone to draw from the cacti on display.

Thank you to everyone who sat down to draw. There’s something rare about a room full of strangers, all giving their attention to something so simple.

Findings: given twenty minutes, a cactus stops being a shape and becomes a subject. Attention behaves like a muscle — slow to warm, sharper with use. What started as quiet focus loosened into something livelier as the night went on. The drawing pulled people in; the music and the room carried them the rest of the way.

A small proof that seeing is something you can practice.

3 weeks out and we’re still thinking about 9/23. A sold-out night at @signalnyc for We Live in Public (2009), 142 of you in the room, and a live panel with the people who actually lived it. Thank you to everyone who showed up and made it what it was!

We’re hosting a gathering at the @les.css × @minorplanetny pop-up shop on May 28th with our friend @joehollier - founder of @thelightphone

We’ll spend the evening drawing from the cacti on display while sharing drinks from @enjoyacid.nyc and @jlhaddad will be on the grill serving bites à la carte. Music by @danielomarvila all evening.

Come celebrate the natural world — and the different ways we experience it.

Drawing begins promptly at 6:30 PM.
The party starts at 8:00 PM.

Stone Quarry Art Park wasn’t built to be consumed. It was shaped to be experienced over time — to shift with the seasons, to reveal itself differently with each visit. Sculptures don’t announce themselves; you come upon them. Paths feel found rather than designed. Silence is treated as a design element. Dorothy Reister referred to this approach and perspective as “Art-Thinking” — a way of seeing that values questions over answers, process over product, curiosity over certainty.
