In Congo: There’s an ongoing war with eastern rebel groups which has displaced millions, and this has now worsened by a vaccine-resistant Ebola outbreak.
In Iran: The government is violently arresting citizens to crush women’s rights protests, while engaging in direct missile strikes with foreign enemies.
In Algeria: The president is locking up independent journalists and banning public protests to maintain total control over the nation’s oil wealth.
In Palestine: Bombings and military blockades have trapped civilians in Gaza, leaving them without functioning hospitals, clean water, or enough food.
In Sudan: Two rival military generals are fighting a civil war for control of the government, burning down towns and causing widespread famine.
In Lebanon: The banking system has completely collapsed and left the currency worthless, preventing the leaderless government from stopping border airstrikes.
In Kurdistan: Neighboring foreign militaries are launching cross-border drone strikes on Kurdish towns to stop them from forming an independent state.
In Iraq: Corrupt politicians are stealing billions in public funds instead of fixing the electric grid, while foreign nations use Iraqi soil to bomb each other.
In South Africa: The state power company cannot keep the lights on, causing daily blackouts while over half of the young population cannot find jobs.
In Afghanistan: The Taliban is using armed police to ban girls from attending school, working jobs, or showing their faces in public.
In Ethiopia: Local ethnic militias are fighting the national army, which is blocking emergency food trucks from reaching millions of starving people.
In Somalia: Al-Shabaab terrorists are bombing cities, while extreme weather has dried up fields and killed the livestock families depend on for food.
In North Korea: The dictator imprisons anyone who watches foreign media and spends all national money on nuclear missiles instead of feeding the public.
In Ukraine: The Russian military is dropping missiles on cities and power plants daily to seize land, while Ukrainian soldiers try to fight them off.

And this is to name a few.

forever for our culture.
መልካም አዲስ ዓመት🌼

- This past year has been filled with so much strife so as we welcome in 2019, let it be accompanied with peace prosperity and love for not only our culture but the people and women it comes from.

“TISEMA (meaning Let her be heard) is a public advocacy campaign calling for violence against women and girls in Ethiopia to be recognized and responded to as a national crisis. It began as a call for justice and accountability following the killings of individual women whose names entered public conversation. Today, it stands as a prominent public demand to recognize these deaths as a broader pattern of violence and miscarriage of justice, urging the government to deliver on commitments it has already made in various policy and strategy documents. We believe this form of declaration is the only way to break the cycle of injustice, public outrage often followed by silence from all those meant to protect the rights of Ethiopian Women and Girls.” -Change.org
