in my line of work i’m constantly asked
‘so sweetheart whats the meaning behind all of these?’
well i finally got to tell the tale of this one with honesty.
I had worked the night before my birthday,
clock strikes 12 and the crowd is absolutely not wild that night
it was a cold miserable night
work was brutal
having a huge turn over rate that night
so many ‘hi stranger want some company?’ in too short period of time.
I told the DJ to not even bother announcing it was my birthday.
It was more embarrassing than sad to scream ‘bring out the birthday girl’ to an empty club.
It was the first birthday where I felt like I was aging, growing up, getting older.
I can feel it in my bones more.
An hour long drive home, sobbing.
Some sadness and happy tears.
This song came on and the rest is history.
I thought if i was ever to get a tramp stamp it better be fucking iconic.
A nod to my younger self. Surviving catholic school and somehow still believing in some sort of prayer.
like scream crying to a song that holds a special place in your heart, driving back home on an empty highway at 3am.
